Ms. Zettie Ann Hall

Her Life Zettie Ann Hall was born September 9, 1935 in McLemoresville, Tennessee, the youngest child of the late Jerman and Ella (Williamson) Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Lizzie Ransome, Mary Green, Pearl Ella Hodison, Beatrice Hurt, Viola Sharp, and brothers: Priestly Hall, Jay Westley Hall, and Thomas Hall. Surviving is her loving sister, Martha Gregory. Zettie accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at the now McLemoresville Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. As a choir member, she enjoyed singing and attending church with her sisters wherever she resided. After the death of Mama Ella, Zettie was blessed to live various periods of time with her sisters, Beatrice in Trezvant, TN; Mary in Cleveland, OH; Viola in Flint, MI; Pearl in Nashville, TN; and lastly, for more than eighteen years, with Martha in Detroit, MI. Martha was a faithful caregiver to Zettie, providing meticulous care, until she was no longer able to do so due to illness. Zettie was loved dearly by her family. She never married, nor did she have any children. Zettie loved life and laughter. Everyone who met her commented on her beautiful smile! It was infectious and she knew it. She woke up every morning with a smile on her face and ended her day reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Despite leaving school early, Zettie was extremely smart and intuitive. She loved watching sports and comedies, drawing, and keeping up with her belongings. Her memory was sharp, and when she didn’t see an item for a while, she would invariably ask, …have you seen my…, at which point you had to stop and produce it. She also had a very healthy appetite and loved good food. Fried chicken was her favorite. She was also particularly fond of pretty clothes and jewelry, especially rings. Although quiet and unassuming, Zettie had an independent spirit and loved adventure. Growing up, many people would share tales of being terrorized by the younger Zettie, but it was hard to believe them because of the sweetheart she became. She brought joy to the lives of everyone who interacted with her, from her family and friends, to her social worker, doctors and therapists, and even her pharmacists. She was love personified, with an angelic face and beautiful warm smile. Despite years of health challenges, Zettie never complained and took each day in stride. She always gave her very best. She was brave and courageous until the very end. On Sunday night, January 27, 2019, from the comfort of home, her beautiful spirit left her earthly body headed to her Heavenly home, to spend eternity with the King. She was welcomed by her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, her Mother, Father, siblings, and a host of family and friends. Oh, what a night of rejoicing that surely was, to be able to sing and shout the victory in the presence of our loving and compassionate Father God! Thanking God for her life and legacy, she leaves to cherish her sweet memory: her loving sister Martha Gregory, devoted caregivers, Cynthia and Kwanza Bell, all of Detroit, MI; her brother-in-love, Paul Sharp, Sr., of Flint, MI; and, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to At Home Physicians, Total Care Home Health, and Tony’s Pharmacy for the excellent care they provided to Zettie for many years. We truly miss her, but we give glory to God that her spirit lives on.
