Mrs. Yolanda Yvette Coleman-Parker

Who I Am Although you may have known me by one of my many nicknames: Leggs, Yogi, YoYo, Londa, or Parker: I was born Yolanda Yvette Coleman on Tuesday, October 19, 1965 under the astrological sign of Libra to Delores Coleman and LeBron Jones. Although my early teachings and life experiences led me along various and diverse paths and beliefs concerning organized religion, there was never a doubt that God is the head of my life. The greatest joy of my life arrived on July 12, 1991 with the arrival of my one and only child, D’Angelo Cash Clemons. I admit loving me may have been difficult at times. As the saying goes, “to love me was to truly know me.” To many I may have seemed complicated, but I was one of the sweetest, nicest people you could meet once I allowed you to know me. Straight-forward, hardheaded, stubborn, and obstinate is what I called all of my nephews and nieces. I knew this because they took after me. Reflections Looking back, I smile as I remember our many family gatherings. I pat myself on the back remembering how everyone enjoyed my bread pudding and peach cobbler. I couldn’t sing a lick, but it didn’t stop me from trying. Listening to jazz artists like Norman Brown and Boney James, some R&B, and DMX with my babies: Nandi, Briseis, Aaliyah, Sparky, Apollo, Mickey, and Roscoe was my groove. My sister always said I would be an old lady in the house with a bunch of cats. My reply was “at least they won’t get on my nerves.” After graduating from Mackenzie High School with the class of 1984, I attended Mary Grove College. This led to my position with the State of Michigan as a Case Worker Specialist for over 20 years and a UAW Union Steward. My younger years found me somewhat of a hell raiser hanging out with Stephanie and Angel. Age brought maturity as I began enjoying solitude. Some people labeled me a recluse or introverted. It was neither. I just overwhelmingly enjoyed my wonderful pets and home. Ask co-workers and family. I stepped out and had a ball every now and then. For those who didn’t know, I loved gardening, painting with a twist, and cruising. I’m a little bummed out because I was actually enjoying the place I had arrived in my life. God Has Spoken On Easter Sunday morning 2017, I began a journey with a much unexpected ending. Life for me didn’t end, but a new life began on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
