Mr. Theodore Larry Simpson

Theodore Larry Simpson entered this world on April 2,1949 in River Rouge, Michigan. He was the first son and the third of four children born to the union of Theodore and Roxie Simpson. Theodore was raised in a very spiritual household. His grandmother, Roxie Hicks, was the minister of St. Mary's Lady of Grace Church, where Theodore was a faithful member for many years. In recent years he joined his wife, Sharon, as a member of the First Church of God Romeo, Michigan, where he worshipped until his death. Theodore was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system, graduating from Central High School in 1967. He also attended Ferris State University. Theodore was known for working at various jobs in the banking and sales industry. He excelled at collections and sales, and if any company offered him more money, he would quickly join that business. Eventually, he joined the team at General Motors, and worked at many different plants around the country, retiring after 30 years of service. On April 17,1983, Theodore married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Sharon Tinsley Simpson. On April 17, 2013, they celebrated 30 years of marriage. Theodore was an avid music fan. He loved all music, but The Temptations were his favorite group — he owned a collection of every song recorded by them. Sharon and Theodore traveled all over the United States and Canada to attend their concerts. Theodore's love of music also appeared in his singing. He was every family member's choice to sing The Lord's Prayer at all weddings, funerals and church visitations. His gospel music collection was awesome and well appreciated. His songs by favorite singer, Marvin Sapp, played almost every day. When Theodore was not immersed in his music, he was watching sports. He made it a point to go to the Tiger's games every season. In pursuit, Sharon and Theodore travelled all over the country, including Toronto, Ohio and Florida, just to catch a game. One year, Theodore attended every home game for the Tigers. He also had a green thumb. He enjoyed puttering around with, and growing, plants. His love of music, singing and sports was only overshadowed by his love of family. After the death of sister and brother-in-law Cynthia and Charles Anderson, Theodore and Sharon became the parents of April and Ashley, who have blessed them with granddaughters, Jordyn, Kamryn and Kaidyn, the loves of Theodore's life. Theodore was Papa and Papa was their heart. There was nothing Papa would not do for them, or give them. His greatest joy was spoiling them rotten. With great pleasure he was Kamryn's daily caregiver until his health began to fail.
