Mr. Otis Jefferey Bates

In Loving Memory Of Otis Jefferey Bates: Otis Jeff Bates was born on June 5,1961, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the youngest child of the late Ruth Esther Bates and the late Ozie Bates. His siblings Carol, Bonnie and Barbara Bates preceded him in death. His last surviving sibling is Corliss Bates. Jeff was educated through the Detroit Public Schools system and graduated from MacKenzie High in 1979. He loved working with his hands so he began painting homes in the 1990s. Painting soon lead him to the world of plastering. His love for the art of plastering inspired him to start his own company, which we all know as "Creative Plastering LLC." Many lives were touched by the work he performed so much that he has long-standing customers even today. It's a blessing to share that the bulk of his jobs came from continuous referrals as he truly enjoyed the craft/trade. In addition to Creative Plastering in 2013, he also became gainful employment with Ford Motor Company. Jeff gave 100% to any job he performed, so there was no surprise with him sharing how much knowledge he received and how much he cared for and enjoyed his union team members. He was the very proud husband to his wife, Renelle Bates, whom he shared 19 beautiful years of marriage. They spent their free time together enjoying each other's company, going to jazz concerts, spending time by the water and bike riding. He was proud of his three children, Julian Bates, Jerron Bates and Desire' Hayes and continually expressed how pleased he was with their individual successes and how happy he was with them giving him such wonderful grandbabies, whom he loved dearly: Jaden Bates, Camryn Beasley, Jordin Bates and Kyndle Reed. He also would say that they kept him young at heart. He leaves to cherish his memories: a mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends. Jeff leaves a legacy of wonderful memories and blessings to all who knew him. He leaves us enveloped in his love, his blessings, his peace and his sense of humor. We honor and treasure the love, life lessons, wisdom and peace he gave us. These gifts will live on for generations to come. We recall his gentle soft spoken kindness and love. We cry our tears and we celebrate our love for him simultaneously.
