In Loving Memory Of On May 25, 1946, in Greene County, Alabama, my mother, Mary Lee Edwards, began her remarkable journey. Born to LC. and Lucille Jordan, she was raised with values of hard work, resilience, and a deep commitment to family-qualities that became the foundation of the incredible woman I knew and loved. Affectionately called "Maylee" by those who knew her best, my mother was more than a daughter, sister, wife, and mother; she was the backbone of our family. After moving to Detroit, Michigan, and graduating from Northwestern High School, she boldly decided to start a new chapter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with her older sisters. There, she met the love of her life, Robert Lewis Edwards, and together they built a marriage that lasted 50 beautiful years. Returning to Detroit, my parents began their life together and welcomed me, Kimberly Ann Edwards, into the world in November 1970. My mother embraced motherhood with fierce love and unwavering dedication. She balanced being nurturing and firm, teaching me strength, courage, and the importance of standing up for what's right. She wasn't just strong-she was unbreakable. My mother worked tirelessly at the United States Postal Service before transitioning to Ford Motor Company, where she dedicated herself until her retirement in 2004. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to our family. In her retirement, she never slowed down. She continued to care for her grandchildren, filled our home with the aroma of her delicious cooking, and put her heart into every DIY project she undertook. Her presence was a steady force in our lives, always providing a safe haven of love, wisdom, and, yes, a little tough love when needed. My mom never backed down or shied away from a challenge. She spoke her mind, stood her ground, and gave her everything to those she loved. Her strength was both a comfort and an inspiration, and she lived her life unapologetically, with grace and grit. Today, as we gather to celebrate her life, I am reminded of all the ways she touched our lives-through her unwavering love, fierce spirit, and selfless dedication to our family. She taught me what it means to be strong, love deeply, and live purposefully. Mom, you were the strongest woman I have ever known. Your legacy will live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to be loved by you. Thank you for being my guiding light, protector, and greatest inspiration. As we remember you today, let's celebrate the incredible woman you were to so many of us. Rest peacefully, my beautiful mother. You will forever be in our hearts, a shining example of what it means to live with strength and love. I will love you always. In Loving Memory: Mary Lee Edwards was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert L. Edwards; her cherished parents, LC. and Lucille Jordan; her dear father and mother-in-law, Will and Lucille Edwards; her loving brothers, Ira Hamilton and Alphonso Jordan; her treasured sisters, Mary Esther Edwards, Sarah Hamilton, and Margaret Hamilton; five devoted brothers-in-law, Jessie, Louis, Samuel, Wes, and J.L.; two caring sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Judy; and her nephews, Christopher Parker and Mark Hamilton. Those She Leaves to Cherish Her Memory: Her legacy of love and strength lives on in her devoted daughter, Kimberly Edwards, and her precious grandsons, Trenton (T J) and Antonio (Li Iman) Edwards. She is also survived by her seven loving sisters, Bobbie, Bettie, Vera, Mary Julia (Jerry), Glenda, Elsie (Earl), and Melody; and her brother, Gerald (Renross). Her memory will also be treasured by her four brothers-in-law, G.W., Fred Lee Edwards, Joseph Taylor, and Joseph Graves; and eight sisters-in-law, Helen, Sharon, Hattie Mae (Joseph), Evelyn, Emma Lou, Maryann (Charlie), Doris, and Renross. A multitude of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family will also hold her close in their hearts. Her circle of friends and loved ones is too vast to name individually, but special recognition is given to Marguerite, Howard, Bertha Colquitt, Ella Hampton, and Daisy Thomas, whose lives she touched profoundly. Though her absence leaves a void, her spirit continues to guide us. May we find solace in the love, strength, and beautiful memories she instilled in each of us. We will forever hold her in our hearts, and her legacy will inspire and empower us for generations to come.
