Mrs. Linda Mary Washington

In Loving Memory of Linda Mary Washington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 3rd, 1948, to the union of Joseph Washington and Helen Mary Jones Washington. She was the second oldest of her three siblings; Gloria, Gregory (deceased) and Bruce. Linda accepted Christ at an early age at River Rouge Bible Assembly. After college, she attended she became a member of Union Second Baptist in River Rouge. Linda enjoyed using her God given gifts, skills and education to work in the church for the glory of the lord. Linda worked in several ministries: finance, planning, programs, missions, and culinary. She enjoyed her church fellowship with the saints as well as the multiple sermons and studies. She developed a personal ministry to spread the gospel. While in high school, Linda matured and was the grand prize winner at the Science fair. She also became a member of the National Honor Society. In 1966, She graduated River Rouge High School with a six-year full ride scholarship to the University of Michigan. From 1966-1972, Linda had earned both her bachelors and masters degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Linda began her career at First Independence Black Bank. From there she went to a position at the Chrysler Corp. Controller's Office and finally landed a position at the Ford Motor Company as a Purchasing Specialist where she worked for over 30 years until retirement. July 14, 1987 she was joined in holy matrimony to James Allen Peterson Sr. She became a loving mother to his five children: Danielle, Evette, Veronique, Eugene and James Jr. Following the untimely passing of their daughter, Veronique, she opened her home to her two grandsons, Lance and Jordan on Outer Drive in Detroit. Lots of growth and accomplishments were made. Later the family moved to Farmington Hills, MI. Linda loved to bake cakes and cook for the family. James, an excellent cook that made great meals. With his God given talent as a carpenter he did a beautiful job redesigning their Farmington Hills home. Linda lived her life praying, practicing patience using grace and maintaining a strong relationship with the lord. Linda’s hobbies were traveling, knitting, ice skating /roller blading, collecting elephants, and planning parties. Most of all she enjoyed reading, and spending time with her family and friends. As well as sharing daily inspirational quotes on Facebook. Linda departed this life on February, 17th, 2025. She is preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Helen, daughter Veronique, and brother Gregory. She leaves to Cherish her memory: husband, James Sr. Children: Danielle, Evette, Eugene and James Jr. Siblings; Gloria & Bruce and 17 grandchildren; Chris, Eric, Lee, Allen, Tony, Lance, Ya’Sa, Diamond, Jordan, Francis, Angeligue, Ayana, Azayna, James III, Marcel, Jayden and Cameron. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and friends. Linda’s family matriarch and patriarch, Fred Moore Jr. and Lenora Moore, were especially close to her heart.
