Mrs. Lenora Hill Horton

In Loving Memory; Lenora Hill Horton was born on January 11, 1942 in Gloster, Mississippi to Milford Hill Sr. and Nora Lee Moore Hill (both preceding her in death). Lenora was the third oldest of seven siblings five of whom preceded her in death: Milford Hill Jr., Russell Hill, Ora Hill-Haney, Jesse Hill, Essie Shelton and one surviving sister Sharon Hill. Lenora attended the Louisiana Public School System in Zachary and graduated from Northwestern High School where she met Felton Horton whom would later become her husband. On December 11, 1961, Lenora married the love of her life, Felton Horton in Scottlandville, Louisiana. Later Felton moved his small family to Detroit, Michigan in 1966. To their loving union 5 children were born: Felton (Julie), Dexter (Regina), Marcia (deceased), Delancie (Shino) and Amiri (Tenia). Lenora was employed with Domestic Linen and Sanders Cleaners for several years. She was often praised for her hard work and care for details. While she was praised as a professional with a great work ethic, what she took tremendous pride in was the care of her family. Pressing her children's clothes and keeping them clean was a badge of honor in her book. So after several years in the work world she devoted herself to her family full time as a homemaker. She wasn't just a homemaker to her own children she also played an intricate part in the lives of her eight grandchildren Corey, Tarrell, Grayson, Nicole, Namia, TeAhn, Amere and Sydney . She was a diligent student and teacher of the bible, which enabled her to dedicate her life to Jehovah God and be baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on April 4, 1981 with the Meyers Congregation. She loved studying the bible and especially teaching God's word to her friends and neighbors in which she devoted 38 faithful years to. She enjoyed cooking and was known for making the best fried chicken and greens. Always armed with wisdom and guidance, she was seen as a trusted confidant and mother figure to many. She enjoyed helping others, old and young as best as she could, whether it was giving advice, cooking a meal, or spending countless hours watching over her grandkids. She was a nurturer to whoever needed it. She could often be seen reading the bible and meditating on one of her favorite scriptures found at Psalm 3:3-5. But you, O Jehovah, are a shield around me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. I will call aloud to Jehovah, And he will answer me from his holy mountain.(Selah) I will lie down and sleep; And I will wake up in safety, For Jehovah continues to support me.
