Mr. Frank Edward Burton

Celebrating The Life of Deacon Frank E. Burton: Frank Edward Burton was born on January 5, 1943 in Talladega, Alabama to Rosa Mae and Elisha Burton, who preceded him in death. The Lord decided to call Frank home on July 3, 2018. Frank accepted Christ at the early age when he joined Africa Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama. Frank always maintained a close relationship with the Lord. He later joined Bethany Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan in April 1987. Frank had many gifts and was blessed to serve in several ministries. Frank once taught Wednesday morning Bible study, and Men's Bible study on Saturday. Frank served on the Usher Board, Transportation Ministry, Men's Choir, Trustee Board, and served as the chairman of the Deacon Board. Frank was a part of the Saturday morning meetings with the Men of Bethany Ministry, and that meant the world to him. His faith in the Lord made him stronger during his illness. Frank attended Robert Russa Moton High School in Sycamore, Alabama where he graduated in 1961. Soon after, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and he was honorably discharged in 1969. Cousin Charles invited him to Detroit, Michigan in 1971, where he then decided to make Detroit his home. Frank was employed with multiple companies. Later he made his career in pharmaceuticals at Park Davis for over thirty years. Frank participated in recreational leagues such as basketball, softball and bowling. One of his favorites was the annual Park Davis Sports Battles. He loved and was a very competitive Bid Whist card player. Frank was an "old school" car enthusiast, the more power the better! Frank loved watching his TV shows: General Hospital, Family Feud, and ESPN's First Take. Frank married the love of his life, Brenda Marie, on June 3, 1978. They shared their love for over forty years. They were the epitome of loving each other "for better or worse" and "sickness and health". Their home was regularly filled with family. Frank and Brenda loved to travel, as they often vacationed with their life long friends Elisha and Gennise Lawler. Frank always had a kind word for everyone he met. Frank loved to make people laugh, tell jokes, and share his wisdom as he had many stories to tell.
