Mr. Eric Fitzgerald Miller, Sr.

In Loving Memory Of Eric Fitzgerald Miller was born October 20, 1964 in Highland Park, Michigan to Ruben and Margie Miller. Eric accepted Christ into his life at an early age. Eric attended Southwestern High School in Detroit, Michigan. While in high school, Eric matured and participated in sports as a member of the football team. After high school, Eric continued his education at Eastern Michigan University. At EMU, he earned his bachelor degree. Later, he moved to Ohio to earn his journeyman certificate. He truly enjoyed being a journeyman and continued to work in the field for many years. Eric was joined in holy matrimony with the late Tammie Willis (Reyes) for 14 years. To this union one child was born, Eric Fitzgerald Miller Jr. Later in life he married Michelle Coleman. Together, they raised three kids, Kyerra Taylor, DaJia Coleman, and Gary Taylor. Eric was employed by the City of Detroit for 15 years as an inspector, he also worked as a project manager and construction superintendent on the Little Caesar's Arena. His most recent employer was Great Lakes Water Authority where he was an Inspector. Over the course of his career, Eric earned several certifications and licenses: Lead Supervisor Certification State of Michigan Office of L.A.R.A., Asbestos Awareness Training Certification, and OSHA Hazard Recognition Training for the Construction Industry. Each certificate allowed him to perfect his craft and to continue to do the work that he loved. Eric's favorite sport was football. Eric loved renovating houses and restoring buildings. One of Eric’s recent projects included the restorations of the Historic Negro League Ballpark and the Hamtramck Historic Museum in Hamtramck, Michigan. Eric departed this life on December 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his former wife Tammie Willis (Reyes), parents Ruben and Margie Miller and brother Dwight Harvey Miller. He leaves to cherish his memories: sons Eric Miller, Jr., Ivan Walker, Gary Taylor; daughters, Kyerra Taylor and DaJia Coleman; siblings Ruben H. (Deborah) Miller, Melvin S. (Claretta) Miller, Sharon ‘Jill’ Miller Lewis; devoted friend Jennifer Chapman; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, many cousins and longtime friends, favorite uncle and aunt, Harry and Angela Kennedy.
