Ms. Denise Aria Mosby

Her Journey: Denise Aria Mosby was born November 15, 1954 to the union of Lemmie Lee and Esther Carolyn Mosby in Detroit, Michigan. She was the third oldest of seven children. Denise, affectionately known as Dee, had a compassionate and generous spirit. She always had a smile and kind, encouraging words for others. In 1972, Denise received her high school diploma from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. She obtained an associate degree in Applied Science in Court Reporting from Ferris State University in 1974. Court Reporting was her lifelong career, to which she dedicated over 40 years. Denise worked in the United States District Court - Eastern District of Michigan (Detroit) under Judge Julian A. Cook, Jr. and Judge Arthur J. Tarnow for 34 years. Denise took great pride in her work and the Court Reporting profession. She earned the Certified Realtime Reporter certification in recognition of her skill and competence. The continued growth of the Court Reporting profession was important and she served in various capacities in professional organizations: • National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) member • United States Court Reporters Association (USCRA). Board Member for many years. District Representative in the mid to late '90s, representing court reporters in the 6th Circuit Federal Court • Instrumental in the formation of the National Black Court Reporters Association Denise received the Spirit of Detroit Award from the City Council of Detroit, Michigan on August 4, 1997 in recognition of exceptional achievement and outstanding leadership. Anyone who knew Denise, was aware of her deep and abiding faith in God. It was the focal point of her life, and carried her through life’s hurdles and was always a source of strength, peace and comfort. Denise came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ at age 7, while attending Berea Lutheran Church Sunday School. She was baptized in her pre-teens at True Love Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Denise was a member of Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield for over 25 years. She successfully completed the two year Layperson’s Bible School at Word of Faith where she also served for many years in the Hands in Service (H.I.S.) sign language ministry for the hearing impaired. Denise loved listening to gospel music and praising the Lord. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Denise was passionate about gardening and not only tended to her own flower garden but also helped to start and nurture the flower gardens of others. Her other interests included playing the piano and photography.
