Mrs. Deloris Ann Jones

Celebrating The Home Going Service Of Deloris Ann Jones "Lois": Deloris Ann Jones, affectionately known as "Lois" was born on March 13, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of the late Margaret Gaines and John Norman, Sr. and she was the eldest of ten children. At an early age Deloris was baptized and born again to follow Christ Jesus at New Westside Central Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend M. M. Dade. She later rejoined the church and followed the teachings and leadership of the present pastor, Rev. Richard Richardson. She was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system and graduated from Western High School. Later in life, Deloris returned to the Detroit Public Schools system and began her career as an associate teacher. Her career in education spanned for 33 years. The students, their parents, and colleagues loved and admired Deloris. She was recognized for her warm encouragement and for impressing upon every student the importance of acquiring knowledge. As an associate teacher, she realized that her posture in life was not in the job but a higher calling by God. Her passion for the world of knowledge left many young minds with a richer, brighter, realization of pursuing their dreams. Deloris was the beloved wife of Edward Jones (who preceded her in death) for 20 years and from this holy matrimony bore four children, Fernando Renard, Andrea Marie, Sherry Rena, and Jacqueline Lenora who respected and loved her dedication as a mother to them. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, devotion to the family and friends yet having a selfless dedication to the community. Always know that God will provide. Deloris was known for her unassuming, quiet, steadfast character while demanding perfectionist energy to every situation that life presented. She was devoted to her family and her unstinting kindness to a wide circle of friends especially to the young minds entrusted to her care. Her earthly life was full and beautiful and she left her footprint in every heart and mind of any and everyone she met along her journey. But let's not forget, she was famous for her passion for cooking and serving. No celebrity chef could rival the savory and beautifully presented Thanksgiving feasts. Her family labeled the dinners as the "Real Thanksgiving dinner!" After a courageous battle and many challenges, Deloris faced them with the spirit, determination, and deep gratitude for the loved ones who prayed and supported her. Her faith in God sustained her. On Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 5:36 p.m., the Lord called Deloris and she made her transition quietly and peacefully to be with Him from her home in Detroit with her family at her side.
