Mrs. Cheryl Tillman

Cheryl, affectionately known as “Roughhouse” and “Rabbit was Born on March 23. 1960, to Delores Lindsay and James Oliver Boyd Sr., She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Cheryl Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Cheryl attended Hamtramck Public Schools until the age of twelve and continued her education in the Detroit Public Schools system. She received her GED from Cass Technical High School in 1978. Cheryl furthered her education by attending Ross Medical School and upon completion of the program, was hired at Farmers Insurance in 1981 where she remained until her retirement after 42 years with the company in 2023. Cheryl volunteered in the youth section at the Detroit Police Department in 1978 where she met her future husband Edmund Alexander Tillman. On June 8, 1983, they welcomed a son Alexander Edmund Tillman into their family. On July 1, 1992, to February 1, 2001, Cheryl and Edmund Married for first time. They later remarried on 5-11-16 and remained a strong couple until her death. Outside of working, Cheryl enjoyed writing poetry, bowling, music, singing, ballroom dancing, Bid Whist, and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Those who preceded Cheryl in death are, her mother Delores Lindsay, father James Oliver Boyd Sr., grandmother Betty Marie Jones. stepmother Carolyn Boyd, brothers Eric Lindsay, Stephen Lindsay, and Thomas Boyd, uncles Robert Jones, Roger Jones, and aunt Jessie Elkins. Cheryl leaves behind to mourn her memory, her husband Edmund Alexander Tillman Sr., (who has been a part of her life for nearly 47 years), her son Alexander Edmund Tillman, daughter-in-law Derrica Tillman, grandchildren Latavea Tillman, Alexander Edmund Tillman Jr., Ezekiel Caulton, Journee Tillman and Miguel Tillman. stepsons Edmund Alexander Tillman Jr., Aaron Tillman and stepdaughter Shelly Tillman. Brother-In-Law Edward Tillman, sisters-in-law Aquanetta Tillman, Kim Abner (Anthony) and Clara Coker (Robert). sisters Brenda Jones, Crystal Boyd, Dawn Lindsay, brothers James Oliver Boyd Jr., and James Lindsay. Also, nephews, nieces and a host of family and friends. Cheryl leaves behind a legacy, full of cherished impactful memories. Her spirit will be forever missed but never forgotten.
