Ms. Cheryl LaBett Robinson

Cheryl La Belt Robinson was born September 7,1954. She was the 5th child born to Willie and Theresa Robinson (who preceded her in death. Early on in life she attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School where she was Baptized and received her First Holy Communion. She then went on to attend the Detroit Public School System but later earned her G.E.D. She also attended Cosmetology School and Nursing school where she earned a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and worked for various businesses. Cheryl was a “Ray Of Sunshine” and a “Jack Of All Trades “ there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do, from fixing something in your house, to working on cars, to hustling in these streets, or doctoring on pets, to caring for people, to cussing like a sailor, to giving words of wisdom, to showing her daughters the way of the world and the hustle of the streets, she did it all. Cheryl was a true hustler with a heart of gold. I don’t care what you needed fixed or done, call Cheryl and Ham and consider it done, you might have to sit through her cussing and fussing at Ham, but they gone get it done, you might even have a screw or two missing, but they gone get it done. She was a “Ray of Sunshine” if she had it, you could get it (but only if she liked you). We all know Cheryl could be a cocked pistol at times but could light up any room and the way she could tell a story would have you in tears from laughter. Cheryl loved scary movies and Sci Fi but if you knew her and I’m talking about really knew her then you know she couldn’t live without her “Scratch Offs”. She recently adopted a new hobby that she loved just as much as her “scratch offs” and that was going to the Casino. She didn’t care how long she stayed, just as long as her favorite machines was popping, she was content. Most of all she loved caring for and spending time with her daughters, grands, great grands, great-great-grandchildren and family. When I think of Cheryl the word that comes to mind is “Extraordinary”. Extraordinary means: Exceptional, Phenomenal, Special, Extraordinaire, Remarkable, Amazing, and Rare. Cheryl was blessed to be all these things and more. She loved to talk junk and fuss and cuss but if you needed her, she was always just a phone call away and just know you were going to pay, while she would give you the shirt of her back at the same time. Cheryl has touched so many hearts and has given so many words of kindness, wisdom and laughter from young to old she’ll truly be missed. Cheryl leaves to mourn her memory: her daughters Yvonne (Andre), Theresa (Bobby), Catherine (Wayne), Yolanda who preceded her in death), her sisters Willie Ruth (Milton), Deborah, brother Reuben and four siblings Vivian, Tony, Phillip, and Kathleen who all preceded her in death, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, her lifelong partner Jerry Dumas, best friend Kismet Hall and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and close friends.
