Mrs. Bobbie Jean Henderson

In Loving Memory Of Bobbie Jean Henderson was born Bobbie Jean Kitchen on December 22, 1937, in Austin Texas to Lucille Haywood, who later met and married Blake Hunter who is the father that Bobbie recognized and loved. Bobbie was raised in a loving home with four other children, Gerald (who proceeded her in death), Billy Ray, Margarete, and Matthew. Bobbie was educated in the Austin, Texas public school system where she graduated from Anderson High School in 1954. After graduation, she relocated to Detroit, Michigan where she met and married the love of her life, Hezekiah Henderson, who proceeded her in death. From that union two children were born, Anthony and Cecil Henderson. Bobbie accepted Christ at an early age. That love of Christ gave birth to a wonderful life of service, lending her beautiful gift of song and service to the mass choir of New St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church. You could often find Bobbie singing in various church functions, bible study, and lending her melodist voice to other community choirs. Her love of church and service found her serving as chairperson of Women’s Day and Churches Anniversaries. Bobbie cherished and adored her grandchildren. They were the jewels of her life. She made sure they knew and loved Christ as she did by seeing that they too attended Sunday school. She took great pride in them participating in Christmas and Easter programs. Bobbie retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service. Retirement gave her more time to devote to the things she enjoyed doing such as traveling, singing, and spending time with her family. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Bobbie knew she was a genuine and kind person. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and called home to her rest early afternoon of Monday, February 12, 2024. She accepted her mission and completed her tasks and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons Anthony (Stephanie,) and Cecil (Angela), two daughters Carolyn Henderson Small (Kevin) and Shearo Bell (William),one goddaughter Roynita McCall, two brothers Matthew (Rebecca, proceeded in death) and Billy Ray (Francis), one sister Margarete, ten grandchildren Camille, Derek, Annette, Antoinette, Brian, Cecil Jr, Jacob, Tonya, De’Andre and Ambi, 8 great grandchildren, a close cousin; Margie. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
