Mrs. Bobbie Jean Dozier

Bobbie J. Dozier was born in McAlmont, Arkansas on December 12, 1938, to Bennie and Abberdean Martindale. She married Greene Gregory and moved to Detroit, Michigan. From this union two children were born, Ray and Dwight Gregory. Greene died at a young age of 22. And although grief stricken, she continued to raise the children with an abundance of love. After the passing of time she met Sherman Shelton, and from this union two children were born, Sherman Shelton Jr and Terrace T. Shelton. Her four children became the focus of her life. It was her strength, dedication, and her unconditional love that helped us endure the challenges we would face. After time she met and married Robert L. Dozier who became a significant man in her life, who she loved dearly. Robert brought four children to the union, Rosalyn, Vanita, Eartha, and Carolyn Dozier. They became a beautiful blended family of eight children. Mom’s strengths, qualities, and attributes demonstrated her love to us all. For this, Mom we will always be grateful and we will always remember you. Mom had a beautiful personality and a contagious smile filled with love, warmth, and kindness. She touched the lives of those she knew and met. On March 18 2026 after a short illness she fell asleep in death, but fought right down to the very end. You are missed mom and we will always love you. She was employed by Renaissance Manufacturing as a Manager. After retiring from Renaissance, she took on the role of CEO of “Dozier’s Tax Service”, a business that her late husband Robert founded in 1986. She loved cooking and family gatherings where everyone would get together for some good eating and family fun. Mom also thoroughly enjoyed gospel music and especially the Blues. A song that would always get her up moving and on her feet was by BB King entitled: “Everybody wants to know Why I sing the Blues”. It was definitely her favorite. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Abberdean Martindale. Six Brothers, Matthew, Lee Vernon, Sammy Lee, Thomas Avance, John Jr, and Michael. Three sisters, Willetta, Ruby Lee, Eardean (Poky) and two daughters Rosalyn and Carolyn Dozier-Willis. She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memories her children, Ray A. Gregory (Theresa A.) Dwight Gregory (Theresa Lynne), Sherman Shelton (Tanya), Terrace T. Shelton, Eartha Short, and Vanita Dozier, one sister Bennie Jean Donley as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Mom will be remembered by her sense of humor, and her warm boisterous laugh. Her relationship with all her loved ones was quite unique and special. Mom’s last words were “I love you Terrace” and “Help me Jesus”. We love you Moma, we will always cherish our memories of you.
