Mrs. Andrea Leslie Newsome-Johnson

In Loving Memory Of Andrea Newsome-Johnson, affectionately known as Angie, was born on November 12, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of George and Marion Newsome, whose love and guidance laid a strong foundation for her life. Both parents preceded her in death. She received her education in the Detroit Public Schools. From an early age, Angie nurtured a profound relationship with the Lord, attending various churches that enriched her faith. Ultimately, she found her spiritual home at Greater Love Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. and later became a member of the Bethlehem-Judah Church in Detroit. Under the leadership of Apostle Eric and Lady Phoncella Howard, Angie deepened her faith, which became the bedrock of her character. Angie was a cherished figure in her community, earning her the affection and admiration of all who knew her. Angie was always available, offering a listening ear, and insightful scriptural guidance. She embraced her role as the storyteller of her clan. Her multifaceted role within her family extended beyond that of a daughter; she was a loving sister, a cherished cousin, and a doting aunt. As a mother, Angie held her son Emanuel’s heart. She was not only a mother but a guiding star in his life. Moreover, she took on the role of a guardian to Tru Ajani, imparting invaluable lessons. Tru has become a remarkable individual who positively contribute to his community. She was known for her exceptional baking skills. She was a gifted singer. On the early morning of November 30, 2024, Andrea transitioned peacefully from this life at Ascension Providence Hospital. Angie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Johnson, as well as three siblings: Tommy Newsome, Nathaniel Killins, and Sandra M. Newsome (Sandi). She is survived by her beloved son, Emanuel, and her brothers, Michael George Newsome and Tru Ajani. She leaves to cherish her memories: many nieces, nephews, and special loved ones including Robert (Crystal), Nariel, Tanay, Tiera, LaTrece, Alice Marie, and Edith. Additionally, she leaves behind sister-cousins Thelecia Myles (Rick), Beverly Minor, Lavonne Whitt (Spencer), cousins, extended family members, and church friends. Angie is also mourned by her two God sisters, Tiffany and Dr. Nikenge Fowler, who cherish the precious memories made during their time together. Andrea’s life, characterized by love, laughter, unwavering faith, and an unshakable commitment to family, will forever be celebrated and remembered by those she left behind.
