Ms. Taveesa Shamone Edwards

September 9, 1972 - December 17, 2021

In Loving Memory Of: I was born on September 9, 1972, in Montgomery, Alabama to parents Arthur Edwards Jr. and the late Pamela Elaine Edwards. I moved to Detroit, Michigan at age 2 with my mother where I was raised. I was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system and graduated from Pershing High School in 1990. I then went off to get my Associate in Business shortly after. In 1991 I lost my beautiful dear mother. As the oldest of six children, being a big sister was something I took pride in. Although we lost our biological mother at a very young age, we were blessed with another mother figure our aunt the late Ester Yelder-Morrell, a father figure Anzley Morrell Jr. and 2 additional siblings. In 1994, I gave birth to my beautiful, one and only child Raquel Latrice Edwards. I dedicated my life to ensure that my daughter had everything the world had to offer. I watched her grow from a little baby into a mature, smart loving adult. Witnessing her walk across the stage receiving her master’s degree was one of the best days of my life. From the 15 years of service working at Greek Town Casino, to 11 plus years working at Chrysler Automotive, I knew all the hard work and dedication I put towards her future paid off. Family was everything to me. Even though I was blessed with one child I have a host of nieces and nephews whom I love dearly. They knew whenever they called auntie Veesa, I was on the way. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, making people laugh, entertaining, writing and spending time with my family was always a priority. I am a natural born entrepreneur with big goals. I started my own businesses with hopes of opening my own restaurant in the future (A Mix of Hot & Soul), but God had other plans. In the early morning of December 17, 2021, at 1:03am I was called home to be with the Lord. I leave to cherish in my loving memory, my father, Arthur Edwards, my daughter, Raquel Edwards, my brothers, Roderick Edwards (DaVonna), Kelvin Edwards (Deonna), Thaddeus Yelder (Elizabeth), my sisters, Surita Edwards, Tiffany Davis (Robert), Nakina Edwards-Womack (Kyle), Sophia Jackson (Clarence), my sister/cousin, Natasha Lee (Columbus), my stepsisters, Alecia Johnson and Sharon Burnett, my aunts, Jeanette Britton, Emily Burke, my uncle, William Minefield, a host of cousins and friends whom I consider family, and my nieces and nephews whom I loved as my own.
