Mr. Talib Aqil aka Norris Sheppard, Jr.

In Loving Memory Of Talib Aqil (Norris Sheppard, Jr.), was born on November 30, 1944 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Norris Sr. and Betty Sheppard. Talib attended the Detroit Public Schools system from kindergarten through the 12th grade. Talib attended Eastern High School where he performed proficiently in his studies, and participated in basketball as well as swimming. After high school, Talib continued to further his education by ensuing the possibility of a career in computer programming. Talib also enjoyed the study of photography, and the culinary arts. Talib pursued the study of ISLAM, and at that time changed his given name Norris Sheppard, Jr. to Talib Aqil. Talib was employed by Chrysler Corporation for a short time, and Thompson McCully Excavating as a general laborer. Talib held a position as a courier for National Bank of Detroit for a short period, when his health began to fail. Talib was joined in holy matrimony with Cheryl Gray for approximately 5 years, to this union no children were born. Talib loved reading and studying the Holy Koran, watching TV, and staying abreast of the current events locally and nationally. He was very astute on many subjects and was a pleasure to talk to about anything from religion, cooking, politics, sports and just the run of the mill activity in the city. Talib especially loved going for a ride around the city and seeing how developments were changing the shape of Detroit and remembering some of the old land marks that were no longer there. Belle Isle was one of his favorite sites to just sit and behold. In his late years he decided to accept Christ. Talib departed this life on May 4, 2022.
