Mr. Maurice Monta McElway

Celebrating The Life Of Maurice Monta McElway: On January 28, 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, the union of Cynthia and Alvin Maurice McElway was blessed with the birth of a wonderful, loving baby boy, Maurice, who was lovingly known to his family as Teeta and to many of his friends as “T1”. As a toddler he was introduced to The True Gospel of Yahshua the Messiah when he began attending I.D.M.R., Detroit Branch with this mom. Loving to sing, he was a member of the Children’s Choir and later became a member of L & G Exclusive, which is the teen branch of the Generators Club of Detroit. Maurice attended Detroit Public Schools and later showed his entrepreneurial skills by launching T-1 Production Company and then later, C & M home-improvement business. He loved utilizing the many skills that he had to work on homes - siding installation and repairs were some of his specialties. Maurice also worked in the restaurant industry for many years where he fell in love with cooking. In fact, when it came to the grill he would push you out of the way and say, “I got this!!!” And truth be told, he really did have it. His food was delicious, and he was the true Grill Master for all of his family events!!! Maurice was always joking and laughing and really enjoyed the lighter side of life. Playing on leagues and competing in many competitions, he had a “PASSION” for shooting pool and teaching others how to play. He also loved fishing, listening to music, and fashion. Clothing and jewelry was his thing, he had exquisite taste. Maurice had great love for his family and shared such a “STRONG BOND” with many of his family and friends. He touched so many hearts and you could always depend on Maurice to be there for you. He was a dedicated son who honored both his mother and father. He was truly his brothers’ keeper; he and his brothers were like the 3 Musketeers. Maurice also had a great love for his sisters. He enjoyed hanging out with his siblings and was very protective of all of them. Being a dedicated and loving father was one of his greatest joys in life. He LOVED his children. Maurice was also devoted to his fiancée, Crystal, who he planned to marry on his birthday, January 28, 2017. On December 24, 2016, Maurice made his transition. Many will miss him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
