In Loving Memory Of Fred Hardy Lawson, Jr. was born on August 13, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Fred Hardy Lawson, Sr. and Frances Lawson. Fred was affectionately called, "Bro" by family and close friends. Fred accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. R. W. Wright, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and sang in the Young Adult Choir. He was educated in the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Eastern High School. After graduating from high school, Fred enlisted in the United States Marines and served from 1964 to 1968 receiving an Honorable Discharge. Fred continued serving in the Reserves for many years. Fred was employed at General Motors, Cadillac Division and retired after spending more than 30 years as a Skilled Trade Production Machinist. In 1983, Fred married Patricia Wilks and to this union two children were born, LaKeisha and Crystal Lawson. In his earlier days, Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking his boat out and cruising on the river. He also enjoyed, cooking, roller skating, dancing and most of all watching sports. Fred loved his family and spent quality time with his grandchildren who referred to him as "PA." Fred was loved and well respected by all who knew him. Fred made his transition on July 15, 2021 surrounded by his family. Fred was preceded in death by Fred Hardy Lawson, Sr. (father); Frank and Matilda Dandridge (grandparents); Cecil Moore (stepfather); Cecil Moore Jr. (brother); Tangie Jackson (niece) and Brandon Jackson (nephew). Fred leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, LaKeisha Lawson and Crystal Lawson; mother, Frances Moore; siblings: Mildred (Timothy) Jackson, Frances Lawson (Otis) Walker, Linda Lawson, Michael Lawson, Gail Stanley, Cecila (Terence) Answorth; grandchildren: DaKeyz Nelson, Jaxon Lawson, Damon Nelson Jr., Damaun Nelson and Diamond Nelson; nieces: Tamyra Harris-Hardy, Tracey Harris, Elaine Grihm, Angie Moore, Tamika Martin, Nyasha Answorth, Amelia Answorth; nephews: Michael Olgletree, Maurice Underwood, Isiah Lawson and Joshua Robinson; aunt, Mary Hill of Birmingham, Alabama; lifelong friends: Gloria Bogan, Bernard Glover, Leroy Buie and Sidney Bogan; and a host of cousins and friends.
