Mr. Charles Roland Averett Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

In Loving Memory Of Charles Roland Averett was born October 6, 1961, to Thomas James Averett II and Mary Stovall Averett. Charles was the 5th child born to this union and the baby of the family. Charles joined his big sister April, brothers Thomas, Derrick, and Nathaniel, and what fun they had growing up. Charles was fondly, called Charlie and Chuck and always had a smile on his face. Charles was educated in Detroit Public School, graduating from Cooley High School in 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Institutional Church, where his father served as a Deacon until his passing in 2000. Charles was a dedicated employee and was employed for 20 years with Republic National Distributing Company. Charles was a man that loved his family, a provider, and a protector, a girl’s daddy and he loved it! Charles loved to cook for his family and friends. He was a caring person that would help his family and friends when they needed him. When he wasn’t working, he loved to fish, watch sports, and go bowling with his brother and friends. Charles met the love of his life Sonya Blount, and built a loving and beautiful life, he adored his daughters. He certainly was the Man, a house full of ladies and he loved it. Charles will be missed greatly by his family and friends. Charles leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sonya Blount; two daughters, Porsha Blount and Andrea Blount; a sister, April Averett; two brothers, Thomas (Brenda) Averett III and Derrick (Cheryl) Averett; four nieces, Zorana Averett, Ivorie Averett, La Shawndra Boyd, and Kennedy Blount; three nephews, Thomas N. Averett IV, David Averett, and Jeffrey Thomas, one great-niece, Laurielle Boyd; sisters-in-law, Jewell Thomas and Angela McGee; brothers-in-law, Otis Blount; aunts and uncle; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Charles’ parents and brother Nathaniel preceded him in death.
