Mrs Barbara Ann Lackey

January 18, 1947 - January 21, 2022

In Loving Memory Of Barbara Woods Lackey, the only child born to Mrs. Gladys M. and the late Mr. Willie (Doc) Woods, was born on January 18, 1947. She was the JOY of her parents. Barbara was educated in the Newton County School System in Covington, Georgia and graduated in June 1965, from the R. L. Cousins High School. After a year of local employment, at the urging of family, she sought new career opportunities and started a new life in Detroit, Michigan, in 1966. On May 29, 1969, in Detroit she became the blessed bride of Mr. Willie Lackey. They were two peas in a pod, until she was summoned home on January 21, 2022. They shared and enjoyed many travel and life experiences together. At an early age, Barbara was baptized in the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Covington, Georgia, during the pastorate of Rev. C. W. Huff. She was active in many youth activities. After marriage, she and Willie became active members in the Baptist Church, Detroit, Michigan serving in the Usher and other ministries of the church Barbara actively worked in the HEALTHCARE industry and blessed to retire after 40 years. We thank GOD for letting her be a part of our lives these many years. We now know she rests with the angels for eternity. She leaves to mourn her passing: her beloved, Willie Lackey; loving mother, Mrs. Gladys Matthews Woods of Covington, Georgia; her aunt, Mrs. Evelyn Ross; dear cousins, Mark Ross, Teressa Ross Tyler, Timothy Ross, Jason Ross, Bryan Ross, Jonathan (Ebony) Ross; sister-in-law, Ms. Betty Grantling; brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Parham and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Parham; and a host of other dear family members, co-workers and dear friends.
