Mr. Willie Green

Willie Ben Green affectionately known as “ Bill" age 80, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Dearborn, Michigan. Bill entered the world on June 11, 1946, in Milledgeville, Georgia, born to his loving mother, Christine Green. Bill believed in God as his creator and savior and accepted Christ at an early age. He grew up in Georgia and graduated from JF Broddie High School in 1966 before making the journey north to Detroit, Michigan. He found his professional home at the Detroit Diesel plant, where he dedicated over 30 years of dedicated work before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Known to many as a man who truly loved working with his hands, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, spending hours tending to his garden, music and cherished the freedom of traveling on the open road. Above all else, Bill loved his four children and his grandchildren deeply. They were his greatest pride and joy, and he leaves behind a rich legacy of family unity and love. Bill was reunited in rest with his beloved mother, Christine Green, and his brothers who preceded him in death: Tommy Stanley, Roy Stanley, Johnny Mack Stanley, Larry Eugene Green, Lucious Edward Green, and Charles Cary Green. Bill's life was beautifully shaped by the unions that brought his children into the world. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Effie Avery, and from this union, his children Willie Green, Jr. and Delores Green Wyatt were born. In 1990, Bill was united in marriage to Bettie C. Polk, and to this union, his children Kimberly P. Williams and Andrew J. Green were born. His legacy of love lives on through his children and their spouses: Willie B. Green Jr. and his wife Patricia, Delores GreenWyatt and her husband Shane, Kimberly P. Williams and her husband Eric, and Andrew J. Green, all of Michigan. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Lizzie Jenkins of Indiana and Gwendolyn Ann and Wimby of Georgia. Bill was a deeply proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: DeJanae, Dana Ann, Demetrius, DeQuawn, Treshawn, Kyron, Donevian, Vincent, Daniel, Deiana, and A'Mare; his three precious great-grandchildren, Delano, Demir, and Jordyn; and a host of deeply loved nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. Bill’s warmth, hard work, and devotion to his family will never be forgotten.
