Mr. William E. Turner Jr.

William Earnest Turner Jr., better known to his loved ones as Billy, was born September 14, 1949 in Detroit, MI to William Hubert Turner and Ore Lee Alston. He was the first born of three and attended Detroit Public Schools. William left school at an early age to work and support his mother who was terminally ill. After her passing, he and his brother, Anthony (Tony) made a silent vow to care for one another as well as their younger sister, Clarlynn. Billy loved and provided for his siblings every chance he could. He would often stand in the gap for aunts, uncles, and cousins. He served his family as a reliable friend, moving company, organizer, uber driver, and micro loan officer. Billy married Elizabeth Ann Casey and from this union six children and a legacy of six grandsons availed. Billy, the husband and father, had a lot of responsibility with such a big family. He had to work! And work he always did. Billy worked many odd jobs and sometimes two or three at a time. In the early 1970s, Billy secured a job with Chrysler Corporation where he proudly served as a forklift operator for over 30 years. When Billy came home from work, he could often be found outside in the garage tinkering, fixing, organizing, cleaning or maintaining cars and things. He loved to keep things in order and was neat and organized. After retiring in the early 2000s, Billy shocked his friends and family and left his hometown to relocate to Stockbridge, GA. It was in Georgia; he sought to secure and enjoy a comfortable retirement. He bought two properties in Georgia, one in the city and the other in the country, reminiscent of “Holly”. He took pride in keeping his property pristine, especially keeping that grass cut and cars clean. Billy and his brother could always be found working on new projects and spent months revamping both homes. They enjoyed sibling debates while running errands, breaking bread and exploring the city. Billy became a true southerner and refused to return back to the cold winter weather of Michigan. In his downtime, Billy enjoyed boating and swimming. The water was his peace, and he could be found there on beautiful days. He also enjoyed staying up watching the Hallmark channel or a good Western movie. Billy also enjoyed early morning bargain shopping with his sister, Clarlynn at Goodwill. Billy loved what he liked, and it was often simple things, such as a good cup of coffee or a variety of sweet treats. Billy was a lot of things to a lot of people. But most importantly, he was a dad. He quietly expressed his love through providing and reliability. His children could call him for anything and if he had it, they could get it. He had a unique relationship with each child and every grandchild. The Lord called William Earnest Turner, Jr. to glory on March 25, 2024. Although not a religious man, he gave his life to the Lord by the confession of faith. His parents, William and Ora Lee preceded him in death. William leaves to cherish his memory, six children; Chonda (Mark Carney), Angelo (Daryl Brazzel), LeToya (Nathaniel Jackson Jr), Michele, Caleb, and Joshua (DiTonya). All of whom will value the time shared, lessons learned, and countless memories made. His grandsons, Cameron, Champ, Chris, James, Jackson, and Sporty will continue in his legacy. His adopted granddaughters, Jasmine and Keturah “Kiki” (John-John, great grandson). His siblings, Anthony, Clarlynn and his half-brother Deon, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends. He will be missed by all.
