Mr. Walter Edward Lett

Celebrating The Life Of Walter Edward Lett: Walter Edward Lett was born March 18, 1938 to the parents of John and Erma Lett, who preceded him in death, in Tunnel Springs, Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helton (grandparents), Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lett (grandparents), Mattie Lyons (sister), LiTorea Lett (son), and Roma Coleman (daughter) have also preceded him in death. As of October 27, 2015 his brother Johnnie Lett has also made his transition. He was baptized at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs, Alabama. While Walter attended Monroe County High School, he discovered his enthusiasm for all sports. However, his love for football began to flourish as he continued to play. After high school, Walter joined the United States Army. From there he began to travel the states while residing shortly in, Pensacola, Florida, Phoenix, Arizona, Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio. He met Mattie Griggs and to that union LiTorea was born. Through these travels Walter gained a wealth of lifetime experiences and knowledge. This is how he became known as the “Great Advisor.” As advisor he would hold “kangaroo court” at the “office” with Hero, Wes, Willie and sometimes Gregory Eaton and ALL of his associates who were partners in his firm. In 1971, Walter moved to Detroit, Michigan and began employment with Cadillac Motors as a shipping clerk. After leaving Cadillac Motors, he started working various sales positions and enjoyed them thoroughly. Walter loved meeting people, telling jokes, having fun and sharing life experiences. In the fall of 1982, he meet the love of his life, Evelyn and they were married in 1983. From this union he had two daughters, Charinsela and Monyai. For the next 32 years Walter continued to be a light in everyone’s life that he encountered. He would light up any room that he entered. The love that Walter exuded to all of his family, nieces, nephews, and friends was truly unconditional and extremely heartfelt. Last, but not least,Walter was an unwavering Christian in his very own way, having a special pact with God. He had a strong appetite for helping others and began faithfully working with the Food Ministry at Greater Metropolitan Church passing out food to anyone in need.
