Mr. Walter John Austin

Walter John Austin was born in Detroit, Michigan March 24, 1961 to Roman and Sarah G. Austin. He is one of eight children. Walter was baptized at an early age at Wolverine Missionary Baptist Church. Later as a teenager, Walter was saved and Holy Ghost filled in April, 1978 at Faith Tabernacle Church, Bishop Morris Thomas Sr. He was currently a member of World Outreach ministries. He attended Sill and Craft elementary schools. He graduated from Drew Middle School and Cooley High School. Walter later earned his license from Real Estate School. He also earned an associate's degree from Wayne County Community College Downriver Campus. Walter helped to take care of his brothers and sisters at an early age. His parents both died when he was very young. Walter also known as Littleman, learned how to work at an early age. He got his name Littleman when he was five years old, when his dad would sometimes take him and his brother James to work with him. His dad and his father's other co-workers gave him that name. But the funny part was Littleman did not work he was just there having fun. Walter always cared for others and always made you laugh. He was a good and hardworking father and husband who also loved his children and family. People who met him knew that he was a very joyous and happy individual. Littleman or Austin is what most people who knew him would call him. They knew that he was a true friend and family man and cousin. He would always tell you how he felt about issues and things that were not right, and let you know and apologize if he had done something wrong. He was always willing to help anyone and listen to others. Walter worked for companies earlier in his life like Days Inn and Marriott Hotels as anmaintenance engineer where he earned his certifications as an electrician and a pipefitter and air conditioning and repair person. Walter began working for Peregrine and later for General Motors Poletown and Lake Orion automotive divisions. He has received many certifications and awards during his lifetime. In his spare time, Walter loved playing pool and playing the drums and guitar or just singing and having fun with his brother James Green and friends or discussing daily issues or arguing with his brother in- law Frank. Littleman also loved bowling and barbecuing, fishing and going to church with his son and daughter and nieces and nephews. On March 29, 2013, Walter was admitted to Henry Ford Hospital for what he thought was a cold but was diagnosed to be stage 4 cancer. Walter went on to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday June 19, 2013, in the presence of his brother and other family members. He was still making people laugh and smile, he did not want us to be sad.
