Mr. Tyrone George Washington

In Loving Memory Of Tyrone George Washington Tyrone George Washington was born August 16, 1951 to parents Mary Lee Lindsey and the late George Washington in Detroit, Michigan. His mother loved the actor Tyrone Powell and felt it was a wonderful and strong first name for her son. So, she named Tyrone after both the actor and his father. Later, Mary and Willie Williams married and from that union Tyrone became the tenth sibling of 11 brothers and sisters. Tyrone attended Detroit area Catholic Schools and graduated from East Catholic High School. He also studied at Henry Ford Community College. Tyrone was a Master Electrician and managed several businesses throughout his lifetime. He was a dedicated and excellent employee which resulted in him being chosen for a Millwright Journeyman Apprenticeship program at Awrey’s Bakery, where he retired in 2011. He also utilized these skills to assist family and friends when called upon. From his youth, Tyrone was very outgoing and had a true zest for life! He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved meeting people, never met a stranger and was known for being a real prankster. He was fascinated with old-school ballroom dancing and perfected his craft by watching Fred Astaire. He would faithfully watch Fred Astaire movies throughout the years and from study and practice, he became an excellent old-school ballroom dancer. Tyrone began dating the love of his life Queenzella, during the summer of 1994. Although they were married August 23, 1997, they had been friends since 1977. They absolutely loved being together and were each other’s best friend. Although they enjoyed traveling, cruises, casinos, concerts and just spending time together, their passion as husband and wife was old-school ballroom dancing, and people loved to watch them dance! Among Tyrone and Queenzella’s favorite music were the Whispers, Barry White, Gladys Knight and all types of jazz. Tyrone had many passions in life including movies, sports and family. He loved attending the movie theater and watching old movies on television. He also shared that passion with his sisters Audrey and Nedra. He enjoyed the Detroit Tigers and especially loved talking with his sister DeBorah while they watched the games. He also cherish the times he shared with his sister Taroline in his youth and adulthood. He always spoke of his sister Joyce as being his Guardian Angel throughout the years. He loved and admired Muhammed Ali and obtained a large collection of his memorabilia. Tyrone was an impeccable dresser and acquired a great sense of style from a very early age. He always credited his mother and older siblings Willie Jr. and Alfred for developing his sense of fashion. Tyrone was known and admired by both young and old for his style of dress. He also shared his eye for style with his nephew Sam.
