Mrs. Starlett Veniece Williams

Starlett Veniece Williams-Maxwell was born July 22, 1954, to Datie Mae Winn and Arthur Feazell in Detroit, Michigan. She was the eldest girl of six children, but her personality and outgoing nature demanded that she was the star! As a child, and throughout her life she always had a passion for singing and entertaining. Bumpty, as she was known by family and friends, was educated in the Detroit Public School system. She was a graduate of Southeastern High School in June of 1973. She furthered her education, by receiving an associate's degree in education from Wayne County Community College. As a young woman, she saw the opportunity in serving her country and enlisted in the US Navy, for which she received an honorable discharge. Throughout her life, she held several positions such as a secretary for Motown Records and Ford Motor Company and a Bartender; but after having children, Homemaker, was her most successful career. Despite any obstacles or indecision she met along the way, she took pride in taking care of her family. Raising her children, pushing them to be their best, and to have an education & skill of their own, is her greatest accomplishment. She was not only a light to her own children, but was a mothering spirit to all their friends and treated them as if they were her own. In her way, she gave the same song of encouragement and love to everyone who had the pleasure of a laugh and a conversation with her. Starlett was fun. She loved to cook and make desserts and share them with all kids in the family; she was everyone’s favorite Aunt. A perfect afternoon would be loading up the car for a trip to Belle Isle followed by a sleep over, because the kids never wanted time with “Auntie Bumpty” to end. She also shared her compassion, adventure and joy of family with her partner Joseph Earl Maxwell for more than 36 years. In 2005, after many years of memories and love they married in Toledo, Ohio. She leaves him and a host of loved-ones to share in her memory. Starlett transitioned early July 30, 2025 after sharing all of the love and laughter she had to give, with us all. She is joined in heaven by her parents; three siblings Irene Louise Watson, Gabriel and Clarence Williams; & two children who preceded her in death, Mona and Earl Gabriel Williams. She leaves to carry on her light: one brother Rev. Carl Garth; one sister Vivian Williams; Three children: Khalilah Lucretia, Kristopher and Carl (Amber) Williams; Six Grandchildren: Maxwell Elijah Williams, Jordan Kristopher Williams, Jakolby Karter Williams, Dashean Keith Williams, Chane’l Veniece Williams & Michael Daniel Williams; One Great-grandson O’mari Prince Willams; A very special niece Shareese Watson and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
