Ms. Shirley Rena Williams

In Loving Memory Of Shirley Rena Williams was born on January 25, 1964, to Doris Lee Jackson and Frank Williams in Emelle, Alabama. Her mother, Doris Colbert preceded her in death, Shirley missed her mother very much and often spoken of her. Shirley Rena Williams accepted Christ into her life at an a very youthful age and continued serving Christ to the best of her ability until she became very ill. Did you know that Shirley’s favorite scripture was James 5:16, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Shirley Rena Williams attended Cerveny Elementary School, Cerveny Middle School, Redford High School, Marygrove College in 1983, Jordan College in 1995, and Baker’s College in 2014. Shirley received two degrees, one in Early Childhood Education; the other in Human Services. Shirley worked as a teacher and as a case manager. Shirley Rena Williams was a great participant in “Room Full of Sisters,” where we honored all previous and/or current cancer participants. She was active in “Women’s Day,” and “Affairs Of the Heart.” Shirley was very much a giving participant, and she would always invite others. Let me share a few things about Shirley that you just may not know. Her favorite pets were Frazier and Madison Rose; her favorite food was Watermelon, Seafood, and Pasta; her favorite color was Black and Pink; her favorite hobby was decorating; her favorite song was “just too many to name”; her favorite TV shows were Law & Order; her favorite vacation spot was anywhere “warm”; her favorite movies were “Harlem Night” and “Steel Magnolia”; her favorite memories were going to Alabama and staying at her grandma’s house. Her proudest moment was her first grandchild! She loved picnics at Lower Huron, and Belle Isle parks. Her favorite songs were “Healing For My Soul”, Jesus Loves Me”, “Be Grateful” and “Because of You” by Tamia. Shirley Rena Williams loved her family! She spoke of them often! Her brothers were her heart and so was her sister, Barbara Percy! She also loved her grandchildren unconditionally! Loving them is what kept her going! She was often seen in church with them. She spoke of how they helped her around the house! She often talked about her patience, experience, and wisdom that she had for them. She wanted them to know about family traditions that they would be able to appreciate later in life. Shirley Rena Williams requested the following inscription be placed on her memorial: “She Loved Hard! Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend to the End!”
