Ms. Sharon G. Grafton

In Loving Memory Of When the sun rose on July 14, 1942, Sharon G. Grafton was born to Willie and Lillie Clark in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was the middle child of five, but due to her youthful spirit and soft voice she was known as “Baby Sharon.” She loved to spend time with her siblings Sydonia Sandra, Jerome and Anthony (all preceded her in death) Despite her parents' taste Sharon listened to her favorite tunes, went to live shows, and picked up a love for fashion. You’d always catch her with the jewels, dresses, sunhats, and various hair colors! Sharon resided in Inkster, MI then later moved to Detroit, MI where she received her High School Diploma from Central High School in 1960. Sharon met Albert G. Grafton at the infamous 20 Grand in Detroit. Shortly after they fell in love and were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Theresa Church in Detroit, MI on November 19, 1960. From this union, six children were born (The Grafton Six) Albert, Michael, Emmanuel, Montina, Dwayne and Monica. Her family’s strong connection to Catholicism inspired her faith and everlasting relationship with God. Every Sunday, Sharon and her six children would walk from Cherrylawn and the long hike across 96 bridge to attend service at St. Bridges. No matter the weather or opinions of others- Sharon made it to her destination. Talk about devotion! Sharon was a woman of many skills: a GREAT (Grand)Mother, awesome cook, crafter, hairstylists, fashionista, and dancer. In attempts to advance her life she attended Cosmetology school (where she learned to bleach, press and curl). Sharon also took classes for Nursing Assistant due to her desire to help others. If you needed a place to stay, band-aid or a warm meal, her door was open. Sharon was loved by all her co-workers from Wrigley Grocery Store and Hudson Dept. store. Gracefully she was able to retire at an early age and be with her family. Sharon was a joy to be around. She LOVED Family gatherings- If you had “good music”, you’d catch her on the concrete or ballroom floor dancing, laughing, twirling, and enjoying life. She’d also reach out her hand so others could join in. Sharon and her sisters Sydonia (late) and Sandra (late) had an amazing bond. In her youth she loved to party with Sophie and Etta (childhood friends) and cousins, Donita, Chuckie (late), Mary (late), Hedy (late), Edgar (late). She enjoyed being an auntie as well. Everyone recalls her as sweet with a little sass-y. If able she came bearing gifts, but her presence was more precious than GOLD. The last time she dressed up the sun hugged her, outlined her body, it was a beautiful sight to see. On Monday, August 9, 2021. Sharon went to rest peacefully. Now she is with her Lord and mother Lillie. Her family continues to grow and her love will always be remembered as comforting, strong, and beautiful. Sharon leaves to cherish her memories: love of her life, Albert Grafton; children, Albert G. Grafton (Debbie, Sherry), Michael J. Grafton (late wife Deborah), Emmanuel R. Grafton (Peaches), Montina D. Braswell, (Tyree), Dwayne A. Grafton, and Monica J. Grafton; grandchildren, Deandre, Deja (Anton), Coran, Michelle (Ricardo), Sheree, Steven, Anton, Jasmine, Nikko, Symone, Renesha, Tiana, Summer, Shalone, Shaquan; cousin, Donita; 20 great-grandchildren; beautiful sisters-in-love, Alrita (Gino) and Alice; brother-in-love, Gilbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
