Mr. Roger Dale Davis Sr.

In Loving Memory Of Roger Dale Davis Sr. was born on November 21, 1951, in Pinhook, Missouri, to John and Fannie Barnett Davis. Affectionally known as Dale, he was the youngest of nine siblings. Dale grew up in Charleston, Missouri, graduating from Charleston High School in 1970. During high school, he was an exceptional athlete and excelled in basketball and track and field. In his early years, Dale married and welcomed two children, Roger Dale Davis Jr. and Keshia Davis. In the late 1960s, he met Mary I. Dixon, the love of his life, and they were married in the early 1970s. This union brought forth Dalerecia and Roger Dale Davis Jr. Dale was a man of many talents, with an entrepreneurial mindset, creative, and innovative. Professionally, he was a journeyman painter and an integral member of the Painter Union. Roger owned and operated Roger Davis Painting Company, leaving his mark on various commercial and home painting projects. He was a mechanically enthusiasts and enjoyed working on cars, turning them into projects to add his unique style into the paintwork. As he aged, his love for fixing cars and engaging in household projects remained constant, adding his distinctive touch to every creation. Dale was musically inclined and loved music, as he self-taught himself to play the guitar, saxophone, and played the harmonica as he listened to the rhythm and blues. Dale was a sports fanatic. He loved basketball, football and boxing. He watched the Detroit Pistons and Lions games faithfully. Dale also was an excellent bowler, as he actively participated in bowling leagues in his early years and continued to embrace the sport by participating in enjoyable family bowling outings. Throughout his life, Dale cherished returning to his hometown of Charleston, Missouri, especially during the holidays. Though not a man of many words, Dale’s love for his family was undeniable. He had a comedic side, and his infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. In his later years, Roger accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, baptized and became a member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Upon being diagnosed with kidney failure and forced into retirement, Roger continued to find joy in doing side jobs for friends and family until his health declined. On December 7, 2023, Roger Dale Davis answered the call of God at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary I. Davis; children Dalerecia Diuguid (Aaron), Keshia May, Roger Dale Davis Jr. (La Shanda), and Charles Boyer (Tiffany); goddaughters Tiffany Boyer and Navada Moffitt; brothers Sylvester Lee Davis and Clarence Davis (Verlean); sister Laverne Davis; grandchildren Eugene and Emmanual Wilson, La’Reshia Wren, and Roger IV, Isiah, Tristan, Haryln, Ja’Aira, Rojair, and Roger III Davis, his great-granddaughters, Hermione Wren and Ella Wilson, along with numerous additional grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, son Roger Dale Davis Jr., and siblings Howard Tim Davis, Fannie Davis-Beck, Rose Davis, John Willie Davis, and Ida Jean Davis-Jones.
