Mr. Raymond Edward Williams

In Loving Memory Of Raymond Edward Williams was born on August 9, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Frankie Mae and Gus Williams Jr. Ray accepted Christ at an early age at Waterfall Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. He was educated through the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1984. He also was a skilled tradesman receiving his Climate Control Technology Certification from Northwestern Technological Institute. Raymond was a hard worker. He was a Driver at Laidlaw Waste Systems in Detroit, MI. He later gained employment as an Automotive Technician at American Axle and Manufacturing in Hamtramck, Michigan. Raymond met Sonya (née Miller) back in the late 80s and from their love was born their only daughter Sonay (Stank). They married on June 17, 1991 and remained life partners until his death. Known for his quiet demeanor. Raymond was always a calm, cool, and collected spirit. To say he loved playing horseshoes is an understatement. He was the Horseshoe King and everyone who knew, knew he was cold with it! His other favorite pastimes included fishing and enjoying the serenity of sitting by the water especially at Belle Isle. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Quiet but funny - Raymond was always ready to debate you on sports and politics. But if you needed a listening ear you knew your secrets would always be safe with him. He never switched up on you and you knew if you needed someone to depend on he was only a call a way. Raymond fought a courageous battle against cancer, but transitioned from this life on Friday, August 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Frankie Mae Williams and his siblings: sisters Gloria, Vina, and Amelia (Mookie); brothers Sherman, Greg, Richard (Money), and Emery; special cousins Wanda Jackson and Ricky Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sonya and daughter Sonay. As well as his brother Gus II and two sisters Shirley Jean and Alice Faye; special nephews Marcel Saltmarshall, Marcellus Saltmarshall, and Robert Richardson (BooMan); special brother-in-law James Miller (Man); best friends Carl Jones, Rickie Warmack, Cottrell Agnew, Dennis Taylor, and Ronald Taylor. As well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
