Mrs. Quvellar Knox

In Loving Memory Of Quvellar Knox was born May 21, 1934, to her loving parents Walter Cooley and Bettralean (nee-Richardson) Kirk in Chatfield, Arkansas. She was the fourth of ten children, the oldest sister. She spent most of her young life in Chatfield, Arkansas and received her early education in the Chatfield Public School System. Her family later moved to Sikeston, Missouri where she continued her education in the Sikeston Public School System. As a child, Quvellar had a deep faith in God. As a young adult she joined Chirstian Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor M.L. Gooch. Later as an adult, she joined 25th Street Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Reverend George L. Pickard. She later joined New Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Everett N. Jennings Sr. Growing up Quvellar enjoyed making clothes by hand, shopping, dancing, reading, gardening, fishing, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family. She loved to cook and was always in the kitchen with her mother. She was like a second mother to her siblings. She always made sure that they ate. She was there to greet them after school and stayed with them until their mother returned from work. After moving to Detroit with her husband and family, Quvellar started working at Top Hat Restaurant, her employer appreciated her loyalty and committed work ethics. She later started working at Broadstreet Medical in housekeeping, a job closer to home. Her employer loved her dedication and hard work ethics. She excelled to supervisor in a short period of time. She then enrolled in medical school to get her certificates that the position required. After having so much responsibility on her plate, Quvellar and Raymond both decided that she should retire, which would allow them to spend more time with the family. On April 24, 1955, Quvellar married the love of her life, Raymond Knox. They were happily married for 69 years until his untimely death May 31, 2024. Their union produced six beautiful children: Linda, Raymond Jr, Marvin, Debra, Cynthia and Jacqueline. Quvellar, Q, Sister, Little Betty, Momma, Grandma and GG were some of the names she was known by with family and friends. She was a kind, humble and loving wife, devoted mother, and awesome sister. A loving friend to all and the glue that kept the family together. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren, following them around town, supporting them as they participated in sports and other activities. Our parents were our biggest cheerleaders. They were loved by all and will be greatly missed. Quvellar made her transition peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 16, 2024, at Beaumont Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children Linda Coles, Raymond Knox Jr. (Michelle), Marvin (Sara) Knox, Debra Knox, Cynthia (Gregory) James, and Jacquline (Jerome) Fletcher; her sisters Viola Kirkwood, Pearline Marshall, her brothers Solomon (Jericha) Stewart, and Reverend Johnny Wayne (Jenny) Stewart and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her parents and husband Raymond Knox Sr., her brothers John, Walter, William, and Levernis Stewart, her sister Asylean Brown, and her grandson Frank Blocton Jr. proceeded her in death. Mom is now free to be with her husband. She will live on forever in our hearts.
