Ms. Phyllis Ann Davis

Phyllis Ann Davis daughter of the late Bishop Angelo C. Davis Sr., and the late Edith M. Davis was born on Dec.1,1951, in Detroit, Michigan. She entered eternal life Dec. 21, 2020, at the age of 69 years old. Phyllis spent most of her adult life in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Lawrence Technological University in Southfield and graduated on the Dean’s Honor Roll with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997. Phyllis was employed at Great Lakes Steel for many years. Her illustrious career also includes the following organizations: KemKraft Engineering, Livonia, employed Phyllis for testing equipment for the automotive industry from 1993 to 1995, and she was employed by Allen Bradley of Rockwell Automation, Troy, from 1995 to 1999 as a Field Support Engineer. Upon graduation from Lawrence Technological University, she was hired by Ford Motor Co., 1999 to 2008, as a New Car Model Manufacturing Launch Engineer. She started her own company Eclair Lead Abatement in 2011 after receiving her Lead Inspection License from the State of Michigan. Phyllis joined Triumph Church, Southfield, Michigan and faithfully served for more than 10 years on the Media & Communications Sound Engineering Ministry. Her spirit of Serving with Excellence and bright smile shined through in every task Phyllis laid her hands to do. She would work with the Building Facilities Ministry to make sure equipment was placed on the right markers, and performed sound checks to ensure microphones were fully charged and coming through the speakers with perfect clarity. She also supported the SWK CD Reproduction and Distribution Ministry. Phyllis was dependable and always at work for the Lord in every area of her life. She was especially excited when Triumph Church under the leadership of Pastor Solomon Kinloch, Jr., offered classes through The Moody Theological Seminary Bible Institute Program. Phyllis would be one of the first to arrive for the Monday evening classes. Once again, you could count on Phyllis to have the sound system (microphones and speakers) raring to go when the instructor arrived. She was there to learn and increase her knowledge of The Word of God but could never sit by and not contribute to all receiving the best experience. You could count on Phyllis asking pertinent questions to gain deeper historical and contextual understanding of The Life of Jesus and The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Rev. Ronald Arthur and Dr. Aaron Chapman (Moody Instructors) would always appreciate her questions and technical assistance. After class, Phyllis would be one of the last to pull out of the parking lot because she always made time to pray with and for anyone that said, “Please pray for me.” She would pray and offer plenty of scripture references for encouragement and say, “Make sure you read them, I’m telling you God’s Word works!” Phyllis would often quote II Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Phyllis will be remembered as being a loyal friend. She was a strong champion for what she believed in and could be described as “opinionated” at times. Right up to her final days she would say "I am still in control". She was a giving person and loved all animals. Phyllis took great pride in her appearance and was always fashionable. She loved technical gadgets, her cars, and her dog Nyla. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother's Stanley Davis and Eugene Perkins. She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers Vernon Perkins (Doreen) of New York, Angelo C. Davis Jr. (Gwendolyn) of Virginia; two sister-in-law’s Diane Davis of Virginia and Angela Perkins of North Carolina; Close friends Brenda Archie of Detroit and Patricia Harrison of Detroit; Three aunts Margenia King of Virginia, Revelta Purifoy of Detroit, Thabatha Allen of Detroit, and Richelean Powers of North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. The quote by John Wesley truly describes Phyllis’ character, “Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”
