Mr. Paul Kevin Fleming

In Loving Memory Of; Paul Kevin Fleming was born on March 6,1956 in Ferndale, Michigan to the late Abe and Mary Fleming. He was the eighth of seventeen siblings. His mother Mary, father, Abe, brothers, Abe Jr., Robert (Bob), Richard (Scott), Jerome (Nuk), Michael (Mike), Tyrone (Bone), Roy, sisters, Sarah (Vette), Hope Patricia and Wanda Newby all preceded him in death. Residing in the city of Detroit, Ted, the name he was known as by many, was educated in the Detroit Public School system. Ted attended the infamous Mackenzie High School. In 1979, Ted would begin his long journey as an employee with General Motors until his retirement in 1989. Ted knew and accepted the Lord at an early age. While Ted did not have a church home, he made sure to visit several churches within the community and as well with his sisters who all attended Third New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Edward Branch. Later on in life, Ted met and married his first wife Diane Spencer. One thing Ted was known for, was his love for music, especially the "Blues". He would enjoy the sound of the bass guitar as this was one of his most enjoyable endeavors. Ted would entertain his family and even take on a competition or two with his brother "Bone" to see who could rock it out on the bass and if you were present, you knew "Bone" would still maintain he was the best to ever do it. If you ever heard Al Green or the Legendary Staple Singers playing in the distance, then you knew Ted was somewhere around. His love for the "Blues" influenced his children, nieces and nephews to also become blues fans. Whenever the family would get together, it was a must that Ted do his infamous slide dance across the floor and break it down to one of his many favorite tunes. Ted had many special and close relationships throughout his life. He spoke his mind and reminded others that regardless, he loved them. Ted had a close bond with all of his siblings and family, however, his unique bond with his Baby Sister Peg was one that he took pride in. He never let her forget how he took care of her as a baby and made sure she had a bag full of candy. Ted had a different relationship with everyone he came into contact with. One relationship in particular was with his oldest daughter Patricia and her son Caleb. He always made sure to put forth the effort to break generational habits and one of those was staying close to all his family from near and far. Whether if you were a family member from Detroit or St. Louis, he maintained a close relationship with all of his cousins. Ted was a man who had a heart of gold and when he came around, the atmosphere was nothing but positive no matter the situation. If he did not know your name he would give you a unique one that only he would call you. Life comes with many chapters and sadly on Saturday, September 7, 2019, GOD decided that Ted's final chapter had been written.
