Mr. Michael Joel Mallory

In Loving Memory of Michael Joel Mallory was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 2, 1960. He was the 2nd son and 2nd of 7 children born to James Henry (Sr). and Maxine Mallory. He was educated in the Detroit Public School system, attended Mumford High School and received his G.E.D. in 1980. He earned an Associate of Business degree and Project Management certification from Mesa Community College in 2013. Michael was enthusiastic, well-known, and well-connected in his business ventures and was referred to as “Mike Mal”. His key phrase was “I got the hook-up” since he had connections with so many people in other industries. Michael was a great automobile salesman and worked at several dealerships. This included Sigmund Dodge, Krug Lincoln/Mercury, and spent his longest tenure at Royal Oak Ford. In Arizona, he ventured into construction, worked for the Arizona Transportation Department, Earnhardt Auto and was an Enrollment Advisor – Project Management for the University of Phoenix. Michael LOVED his family and family activities. He also enjoyed golf, motorcycling, traveling, dancing, and swimming. In 1987, Michael married Debra Simpson and they raised their sons Renard (Ray) and Brian. In 1993, Michael married Caroline Walker and Michael (Mike Mike), Kyle, and Morgan were added to the family. Michael’s deep faith in God and his unwavering belief in Jesus Christ were evident. He would often say “God’s got me!” which encouraged himself and others. He was baptized at Bethesda Church and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He joined Word of Faith International Christian Center and served as an usher and an armor bearer. In Arizona, he was active in the Outreach Ministry of Faith Christian Center. In Michigan, he conducted street ministry, prayed with cancer patients, their families, and hospital medical staff. His Christian service extended to prison outreach ministry and a 24-hr prayer line. He was also a faithful member of the S.W.A.G. (Spiritual Women/Warriors Answering God) prayer group. Despite his health challenges, Michael remained remarkably resilient and never complained. He always responded with a simple, "I'm good” when asked how he was feeling. A special family friend, Tonya Ross Thomas, cared for him, which allowed him to return home from medical facilities. Michael touched countless lives, forever leaving a special place in their hearts for him. After a courageous 15-year battle with cancer, Michael peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. His mother Maxine, father James Sr., brother Marland, and sister Ursula Harris passed away before him.
