Ms. Melody Hambright

On Sunday, January 9, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, Melody Alanna Hambright made her astounding debut as the first of six children born to Willie James Hambright (1943-1988) and Allayne (“Kitty”) Hambright. Early in her life, Melody accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Melody was a faithful member of Third New Hope Baptist Church in Detroit, MI under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Edward L Branch from 1987 to 1994. In addition to participating in Christian Education at Third New Hope Baptist Church, where she grew in the wisdom and admiration of Christ, Melody served in many capacities of the ministry, including a faithful choir member of Voices of Hope, usher, nursing home ministry, and other areas of ministry as needed. Melody continued her spiritual journey and grew in her faith over the years. In May of 1995, Melody attended and joined Greater Grace Temple (O.G. Hayes Memorial) of the Apostolic Faith in Taylor, Michigan under the leadership of Bishop Gary Harper, and was baptized in Jesus Name and received the precious gift of the Holy Spirit according to Act 2:38. Melody lived a holy, righteous and sanctified life. Melody was very generous and she demonstrated the fruits of the Spirit to all those she encountered. Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance (Galatians 5:22). Melody received her early education in the Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Northwestern High School on June 15, 1984. Later that year, Melody attended Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio for one semester and later returned to Detroit, MI and became gainfully employed with the Detroit Water & Sewerage Department for over 17 years. Melody also worked for the U.S Department of Veterans, The U.S Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Services and The United States Department of Homeland Security. Melody was a very ambitious person. Always seeking to improve herself. Driven by her passion for numbers and finance, Melody continues to pursue her academic endeavors. She was matriculated at Wayne County Community College in Detroit, Michigan and obtained an Associate degree of Applied Science in Accounting in May of 1994. Melody went on and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Accounting from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ on January 31, 2003, and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ on February 28, 2006. With her exceptional academic excellence and administrative skills, Melody exhibited remarkable talents in the field of accounting. Melody loved to travel and had the opportunity to live in several states, which includes Phoenix, Arizona; Nashua, New Hampshire; Madison, Wisconsin; Leavenworth, Kansas; Corona, California; Aurora, Colorado; and Washington, DC area. Melody also loved bike riding, exercising and reading books at the local library. Melody has finished her course, run her race, and kept the faith. Our Dear Melody Alanna departed this life into eternity on Saturday, April 6, 2024, leaving a big void in our lives. She was such a sweet, kind, and generous person. Melody was deeply devoted and loyal to her family which she leaves to mourn her passing: her loving mother Allayne (“Kitty”); brothers Terence, James (Tracey), Wil and Dr. Neal; sister Sylvia Kaye (Karr); nieces Kayla and Amara; nephew Christian; and many friends and relatives. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord … that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Revelation 14:13
