Ms. Margaret Yancy

In Loving Memory of Margaret McQueen Yancy, affectionately known to many as “Miss Margaret,” was born on April 10, 1937, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Nathaniel and Lena May (Robinson) McQueen. She was raised in a home rooted in faith, love, and family traditions, which shaped her into the caring and compassionate woman we were blessed to know. Margaret later made her home in Detroit, Michigan, where she raised six children and created a legacy of love and resilience. A devoted servant of the Lord, Margaret was a faithful churchgoer and a prayer warrior who carried her Bible close to her heart. She spent countless hours volunteering, encouraging others, and supporting her church family. Her warm spirit and unwavering faith were an inspiration to all who knew her. Margaret was known for her sweet, giving nature. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She found joy in preparing and sharing meals, often opening her home and her heart to family, friends, and even those she had just met. In her later years, Margaret resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she lived with her daughter and granddaughter, surrounded by love and care. On November 17, 2024, Margaret received her heavenly crown, and she peacefully transitioned at the age of 87. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: David, Kenneth (Sharmayne), Glen, and Regina; her beloved grandchildren: Orlando, David III, Kenneth Jr., Anita, Farentino, Gregory Jr., Braylyn, Brittani, Melanie (Ashton), and Dante; as well as her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Nathaniel; her brothers, Ralph, Nathaniel Jr., Lawrence, and Jeffrey; her daughter, Arlette; her son, Gregory; her former husband, David, her grandsons, Giovanni and Glen Jr; and her daughter-in-law, Brenda. Margaret’s life was a testament to her faith, strength, and love. She touched many lives with her kindness and her devotion to God and family. Her beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
