Mrs. Mamie Dell Shepard-Williams

Mamie D. Shepard-Williams was Obie and Lula Roberts second child, born in Detroit, MI on January 4, 1924. Her parents and siblings: Minnie Pearl Woods, Edward George Roberts, and Cynthia Mae Cooper all preceded her in death. Mamie's eternal rest occurred September 29, 2016, at the glorious age of 92. Mamie was educated within the Detroit Public School district and went on to receive college level training earning certificates and licenses to advance in her Business and Hospitality Professions. Mamie's Matrimonial Events occurred twice: On August 31, 1964 in Washington, D.C. to Manuel Shepard and again on October 6, 1997 in Detroit, MI, to Eddie Williams. Both husbands preceded her in death. Mamie affectionately known as "Auntie" began her dedicated walk with Christ at an early age. In her youth, she belonged to New Bethel Baptist Church. Mamie Shepard's advanced epiphany in the Lord led her to St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church on Dexter Blvd. where she served for many years under Rev. Williams as a member at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church where she continued to serve God until introduced to overall wellness challenges. Mamie, who met few strangers and who lived life to its fullest, explored all facets/walks of life. She performed as a member of many social groups including "The Ballantine Belles", a Dinah Washington scholarship organization that awarded the youth in Performing Arts. Mamie also met and embraced with Michelle Obama. Mamie loved to serving the Lord, church auxiliaries, her diverse communities and Family. Her multi life-long entrepreneurial vocations included servicing both the Business and Hospitality sectors. She was the owner/agent of Mamie's Travel and Tours" Company. She lastly employed herself as a companion worker for the elderly. Mamie's humanistic approach to life kept a plethora body of family and friends (many who preceded her in death) in her presence. Auntie's life's story sophisticatedly included being "She" whom it up the place with her unforgettable exquisite taste to dress, her exuberant eyes and radiant (one thousand watt) smile. All which continued to characterize and communicate for her even during her speechless days. "Auntie" is/was a Special Person to all of her Nephews and Nieces. Linnell, Clinton, and Bruce preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories: Bertram, Keith, and George (Mary) Sharon, Ellaweta, Soncha, Cynthia, Diane (Bruce): many Great, Great Great and Great, Great Greats; Godson/Nephew Frank, Great, Great Skylar A Cooper who was born September 26, 2016, and a host of Cousins, Family, Friends and Chosen Children and Family
