Mrs. Louise Marie Scott-Curry

Louise Marie Scott Curry was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 24, 1962, to James Cephus Scott and Josephine Capers-Scott, whom both parents preceded her in death. Louise is the second oldest of six children. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church during her adolescent years. She later became a member of Wings of Love Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member for over 30 years. Louise received her education at Davison Elementary, Ford Jr. High, Highland Park High School, and Highland Park Community College. Louise also received her certificate for Medical Administration. She furthered her career in healthcare. After graduating high school, she would go on to be in a loving relationship with Calvin Irby, where three children were born from this union (Calvin V. Irby Jr. preceded in death): Joi Marie Irby and Tamicka LaShelle Scott. Louise later met and fell in love with Michael Curry. They were married on September 18, 1994. Michael preceded Louise in death. Two children were born from this union: Michael Curry II and Mykia Curry. Louise always carried a bright smile on her face. She had a wonderful upbringing. She was never hesitant to help others, especially those she named family and friends. She helped her mother out on the weekends driving the ice cream truck (family owned), which formed lasting bonds and memories with her family and friends; it was a fun time. Louise was the true definition of a matriarch—being family-oriented. She gave love unconditionally and unmatched. An amazing woman of God who operated with grace, respect, class, humility, understanding, pure heart, and an abundance of love and forgiveness. She loved on, supported her village, and always remained dependable. There was a special healing in her home, which she extended out to many of her family members. Louise and Michael took pride in their children and grandchildren. After the passing of Michael, Louise continued the journey. She will always be our superhero, Mama, and Nana. Louise spent quality time with her grandchildren—from picnics at the park, to baking goods in the kitchen, and attending events, school programs, graduations front and center, with that bright smile and that glow of happiness. Louise enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling, going to the casino, and cooking for her family. She’s known for her potato salad and her peach cobbler. Her mom, Josephine Scott; her dad, James Scott; her husband, Michael Curry; and her siblings, Dennis Scott, Josephine Scott, Deborah Scott, and Roderick Scott preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory: five beautiful children—Tamicka Scott-Alexander, Joi Marie Irby-Curney, Mykia Curry-King, Michael Curry II, and Laneisha Lewis; three sons-in-law—Antonio Alexander, Feraud Curney, and Damion King; and one brother, Ronald Scott. Louise is a grandmother of 16 (and one on the way) and a great-grandmother of one. Louise also leaves to cherish her memory a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
