My Journey It is amazing to know who I am and the wonderful life I’ve had. To some, it may have seemed that I lost my way, but I accepted God at an early age. Nettie Warren did not play! I never forgot God and I surely will never forget any of you! Don’t cry, this is a Homegoing Celebration! Say hallelujah and let the devil know you are encouraged! I am united now with my parents Joe and Nettie Warren. I’m so excited to see my beautiful daughter, Felicia, whom I have missed so much. It is great to see my siblings Reginald, Charles, Ben Lee, Roberta, Ella and Josephine! Wow! Grandpa Rufus, Momma Laurie, and Belinda Faye are here too. (Faye, I know you have a good number!) So many loved ones have greeted me! There are too many to name, just know we’re having a hallelujah good time! Nothing on earth can compare to my eternal home, but please know I have fond memories growing up in Memphis before settling in Detroit. I couldn’t take you with me Timothy but know that you have always been loved. I met and married George Clark, Jr. and we had a beautiful family: Willie Warren, Doretha Clark-Evans and Vincent Clark. I know how you all would stick together and take three whippings verses telling on each other. You brought such joy to my life! My grandbabies expanded my heart even more! Jimeka, Allegra, Mentora, Willie, Pierre, David, Ashley, Venesha, Kayla, Timothy, Darius, Tyler and Kristian, continue to make me proud! So many friends helped to bring laughter into my heart and home. Roy Murray, you helped make house into a home. Evelyn, do you remember coming over, drinking coffee and getting your hair done? I’d be having my “personal summer” and you’d be sitting under the dryer. I’d have the window open and you’d be freezing! Friends, think of the fun times and the laughs we shared… The music, the dancing, the fish fries, and the card parties. Betty Jean, do you remember how you, Faye and I used to be at the house singing and dancing and having a good time? Of course, I was the one who could really get down! Oh, if the walls of the 20 Grand night club could talk! To my siblings Joe Warren Jr., Flora Mae Warren, David Lee Warren, and Mary Chapman, please don’t spend too much time mourning. Tears are for sad occasions. Rejoice in the fact that I left to be with Jesus Christ. That should make your hearts glad! My earthy journey was wonderful, and I am grateful for all the family and friends who touched my life. I hope that I touched yours in a special way. Live, love and laugh! You know that I did!
