Mrs. Loretta McCall

Going Home Celebration For Loretta McCall: Loretta Flowers was born on May 17, 1941 in Brundidge, Alabama to Clem and Pearline Flowers. At an early age Loretta accepted Christ and became an active member of New Hope Holiness Church. Loretta attended Hillcrest High School where she excelled in academics and sports. She was most proud of being a Marching Band Majorette, twirling her baton. After completion of high school, Loretta chose to become employed at the army base in Fort Rucker to assist her family. She did not pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She worked there until her marriage to Robert McCall, whom she was married to for 40 years until his home going. Loretta and Robert were loving and dedicated mates. They were just as loving to their daughter, Patrice. Loretta and Robert were members of Straight Gate Church. She served faithfully for years on various auxiliaries. Everyone knew that she loved her Bishop Merritt, Pastor Viveca and the church family. At 10:22 a.m. on February 18, 2017, a great woman, who touched everyone around with her smile, kindness and laughter; who lived a spirited life of honor and infamy as her name dictated, left to be with our Lord. Even in the absence of her presence, her indelible memories remain, who can ever forget her fiery spirit, inspirational words of wisdom and faithfulness in all things. Even at the age of 75, she never tired of laughing, doing practical jokes, giving her opinions in her “infamous” matter-of-fact kind of way, endless hilarious exchanges and stories shared with family, friends and strangers alike. As much as she tried to stay in the background, her undeniable love and compassion for all would not enable it. Her heart led, where her head followed. Even to the end, she never wavered in her love, devotion and fear of God. Pain, nor sickness, never prevented her from evangelizing, uplifting and boasting about the goodness of God to others. Because of her, countless people have experienced first hand, the even perfect love of Christ. The great woman I speak of was Loretta McCall. She was a wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, neighbor, colleague, member and teacher. Left us with laden filled tears but joyful hearts. For we know she is reunited in heaven with her heavenly Father and that her legacy of charity, dedication and unending love will continue through each of us.
