Mr. Lonnie Edward Turner

In Loving Memory Of: Lonnie Edward Turner Sr. was born to Willie B. Turner and O. K. Turner on December 29, 1925 in Haynesville, Louisiana. He was the eldest of two children. Lonnie Sr. accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Claiborne Parish Public Schools system in Haynesville. Lonnie Sr. was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served his country and received medals for victory and Army occupation. Lonnie met the love of his life, Ola B. Ivory. She was also his childhood sweetheart. Lonnie Sr. and Ola B. united in holy matrimony on June 19, 1947. To this union, 15 children were born. They had a loving relationship and shared countless memories. Lonnie Sr. traveled from Louisiana to Houston, Texas to Chicago by train in pursuit of better career opportunities. Detroit, Michigan is where he eventually settled with his wife, Ola and his growing family in 1950. Lonnie started his work career at Chrysler Motor Company. Here he worked for 10 years. He then found a better job opportunity with Ford Motor Company. He worked at the Livonia Transmission Facility for 27 years and was a member of Local Union 182. He retired 26 years ago. In his leisure time, Lonnie enjoyed his hobbies: fishing, boating, camping, cooking, hunting, playing cards, working on cars and watching his favorite sport, baseball. Lonnie was a hard working man and a good provider for his family. In the early afternoon on Sunday, November 14, 2021, Lonnie Sr. made a peaceful transition on to glory, at home with the love of his life, Ola B. and family by his side. Preceding him in death: his parents, O.K. Turner (father) and Willie B. Turner (mother); Marie Armstrong (sister) and Charles Edward Turner (son). He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy: loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Ola B. Turner; 14 living children: Lonnie Jr. (Connie), Brenda Lawrence (Rodney), Gregory (Shirley), Beverly Turner, Greta Mackey (William), Ronnie (his caregiver), Kelvin (Doreska), Michael (Kimberly), Reggie (Jahada), Rhonda (Darryl), Christopher, Aretha Butler (Norman), Jamal (Kelli) Andre (Jeanette); 39 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Marva Jean Livingston and London Ann Erkins; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
