Mrs. Lillian Lewis

In Loving Memory Of; A Time To Be Born Lillian Lewis was the “love child” born to the late Ephesian and Mary McCullers. She was the oldest of five children born to this union. Her siblings Ephesian (Jr.), Mary Ann, Eugene and Richard all preceded her in death. A Time To Be Reborn Lillian attended church with her aunt Lela and her grandfather Charles (Gramps) growing up. She later joined and was baptized by Rev. Charles E. Morton at Metropolitan Baptist Church where her father served as a deacon. In 1982, she became a member of Unity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Valmon D. Stotts after her brother EuGene invited her to come hear their dynamic choir. Lillian loved good gospel music. Some of her favorite gospel artist were Rev. James Cleveland, Tramaine and Walter Hawkins, and Daryl Coley just to name a few. In February 2020, Lillian joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. A Time To Love In July 1958, Lillian married the late Nathaniel Colvin. To this union three children were born, Nathaniel (Mark), La Donna, and Daryl who received his wings after only living a few short days. On August 31, 1968, Lillian experienced love again when she married the late Edward Leon Lewis. A Time for Every Purpose Under The Heaven Lillian attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated Magna Cum Lade from Northern High School. She received a scholarship and attended Western University. She was later employed with the United States Postal Service holding positions starting as a clerk and being promoted to several levels of Management. She retired after 25 years of service. Lillian was known for her cooking and hosted many dinners for family, friends and co-workers. She was also a very good seamstress known for making clothes, draperies, and reupholstering. She crocheted baby blankets, booties and afghans for family and loved ones until her health started failing. She was quite creative. She loved to travel, the Northern cities in Michigan were some of her favorite places to visit along with her annual trips to various Cider Mills and Frankenmuth. Lillian was always there to help others and after making a promise to her cousin Kloteel before her passing, she raised her two children Kenyatta and Arthur Bowlson III.
