Mr. Lee Smith, Jr.

His Story: Lee Smith Jr. was born on October 22, 1945 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi (Copiah County) to the union of Lee Smith Jr. and Frankie Mae Smith. Lee Smith Jr. affectionately called (Baby Ray) as a child he was the 5th of nine children. Lee was educated in Mississippi at Parrish High School. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army. Following his tour in the Vietnam Lee returned to the states where he continued his education and graduated from Wayne County Community College later taking classes at Wayne State University. Lee worked in various jobs before moving into his career becoming employed by United Insurance Company of America where he dedicated twenty-nine years. He retired on November 30, 2012. Lee was united in holy matrimony to Miss Isabelle Moore, to this union three children were born: Kevin, Madelyn and Evette. In 1991 Lee met the love of his life and was united in holy matrimony to Miss Geneva Walker, to this union they have four daughters: Brittani, Lea, Brea and Simone. Lee gave his life to Christ at an early age and united with St. Peter Church of Holiness USA in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. On November 11, 1994 Lee united with the Church of the Living God #37 under the leadership of Elder Leroy Williams. He later served under the leadership of Pastor Toney Hines. While serving in the Church of Living God, Lee wore many hats. He worked in the kitchen serving hot meals to the needy. He also volunteered with the feeding program from Forgotten Harvest. Lee was an ordained deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary, Trustee Board Chairman, Deacon Board Chairman, church custodian, landscaping, snow removal, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and sang with the men's choir. Brother Lee enjoyed his family and traveling. He was a dedicated and committed husband and father. Lee, with his pleasing personality, joking spirit and "3rd grade education" kept people on their toes. Lee was a member of the Grown and Sexy Social Club with three other couples where he enjoyed monthly outings and fellowship. Lee is preceded in death by his parents: Lee Smith Jr., Frankie Mae Smith, brothers: Willie Frank Smith, Robert Lee Smith Sr., and Billy Ray Smith Sr. God called Lee home from labor to reward on February 1, 2019 at home.
