Mr. Kevin Boyd

In Loving Memory Of On July 18, 1965, Kevin Boyd was born to loving parents Dennis Boyd, Sr. and Mary Ella Smith Boyd in Pickens, Arkansas. He was the last of fourteen children born to their union. After the loss of his mother, he was raised by Levi and Odessa Jones. Kevin was educated in the Dumas Public School System and graduated in 1983. After graduation, at age 17, he enlisted in the National Guard and served for two years. Kevin gave his life to Jesus Christ at an early age and was raised in Havis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, Arkansas. In 1993, Kevin moved to Detroit, Michigan to join some of his family members. The following year, in 1994, he met the love of his life Desma Shermett Holden. They were joined in holy matrimony on December 1, 2000, and to their union was born Devin LeTrez Boyd. Devin joined his five older siblings: Shana, Kevin Shamar, Shanetta, Jonathan, and Shawneka. Kevin supported his family as an 18-wheeler truck driver, and he loved it! He also enjoyed watching football, listening to old school music, and watching Western movies. In his later years, Kevin was a man of leisure. He loved working in his yard and relaxing. Kevin departed this life on November 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Dennis, Sr., (Ruthie Lee Boyd), and Mae Ella Boyd; (3) sisters: Jeanette Boyd, Christine Joyner, and Linda Boyd; and (3) brothers: Roy Lee Boyd, Oliver Boyd, and Roosevelt Larkins. Kevin is survived in this world by: (1) parent; his father Levi Jones (Beatrice), his wife (Desma), (6) children: Shana (Christopher) Murphy, Kevin Shamar (Shaquoia) Boyd, Shanetta (Tiana) Holden, and Shawneka Goodwin all of Detroit, Michigan and Jonathan (Jessica) Boyd of Wichita, Kansas; (18) Grandchildren: Syria, Christopher, Jr., Jay’lah, Shamara, Tamara, Justice, Justin, Josiah, Kevin III, Robert, Madison, Quinn, Jamie, Ariel, Desma, Aubrey, Jaxson, and Maurice; (19) Siblings: Viola Boyd, Dennis (Regina) Boyd, Jr., Sylvester (Rita) Boyd, Fredrick (Erma) Boyd, all of Detroit, Michigan, Brenda (Nathaniel) Burton of McGehee, Arkansas, Carlean Marbley of Fort Worth, Texas, Harold Boyd and Mary Boyd of Lansing, Michigan, Floyd Lee Boyd of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lisa Davis of Dumas, Arkansas, Bobby Lee Boyd and Larry (Sherry) Davis of Springfield, Illinois, Celestine (Kendrick) Allen, Bonnie Mae (Donald) Barkley, and Rubie Larkins all of Nashville, Tennessee, Luther (Dorene) Dean, Lynwood (Luddie) Larkins, and Elaine (Ricky) Williams all of Dumas, Arkansas, and Ronald Larkins of Sioux City, Iowa. Kevin also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memory.
