In Loving Memory Of Kenneth "Kenny" Lee Russ Sr., born on a cool autumn night in 1961, brought his unique brand of humor and infectious laughter to the world. From his early days in Detroit, MI, to his memorable adventures in Detroit schools, Kenny knew how to keep everyone entertained. Graduating from Benedictine High School in 1979, he left a trail of laughter in his wake, especially on the track and football fields. With his quick wit and charm, Kenny's talents weren't just limited to his excellence in sports. He pursued higher education at Wayne State University, where he mostly majored in making the ladies smile. Little did he know that his destiny would lead him to a career in plumbing. He first ventured as a plumber at The Book Cadillac Hotel. Following that, Kenny worked as a Plumber for the Waste Water Treatment Plant where he met plenty of lifelong friends and even played on a softball team where his nickname was “Mr. Perfect''. This all led to his career as a Plumbing Inspector for the city of Detroit. He mastered the art of inspecting with a twinkle in his eye, putting a unique spin on codes and regulations. As a second-generation master plumber, Kenny's dedication to his craft knew no bounds. He proudly owned and operated Russ Boys Plumbing, turning leaky faucets into works of art. Kenny found joy in every pipe he fixed, every beautiful new bathroom and kitchen he brought to life in many homes and every clog cleared. When it came to football, his passion knew no bounds. He could analyze plays like nobody's business and cheered for his favorite teams with unbridled enthusiasm. As soon as his team won, you knew to be ready for a call. Amidst his adventures, Kenny found beautiful journeys to love. His first journey into matrimony was with Pamela Redd, and together they raised two incredible children. Later in life, he embarked on a new chapter with his beloved wife, April Smith. Their love story was filled with laughter, love songs, and plenty of dancing under the gazebo. Music became the soundtrack of their life, and their duets echoed throughout their home. Kenny was the family's chief comedian, a role he embraced with gusto. He could find humor in any situation, turning even the most serious topics into sidesplitting jokes. His infectious laughter was a tonic for the soul, bringing joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether it was a family gathering or a simple get-together with friends or his children, Kenny's jokes and pranks kept everyone in stitches. On September 6, 2023, Kenny bid farewell to this world, leaving behind memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. While we mourn the loss of Kenny's physical presence, we know that his spirit will continue to light up our lives. His jokes will echo in our memories, and his laughter will forever ring in our ears. May Kenny's soul find eternal peace, accompanied by the sound of laughter and the warmth of his loved ones.
