Mr. Joel Gorden, Jr.

In Loving Memory Of Joel Gorden Jr., affectionately known as "Doe Doe" or "Joe Joe," made his grand entrance into this world on July 1, 1968, as the cherished son of Patricia Tumpkin and Joel Gorden. Joe accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Bible Way Church as a young adult. He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools, where he developed a love for drawing at a young age—a talent he later passed on to his daughter. Joe was a man of many talents and passions. After earning his Commercial Driver's License (CDL), he worked for Waste Management as a driver. Later, he became skilled as a barber, a profession where his creativity and love for people radiated. Gifted with his hands, Joe pursued home renovation projects that eventually grew into successful entrepreneurial ventures, including owning and managing rental properties. One of his proudest achievements was purchasing and rehabilitating a home in the Boston Edison District for his family. Joe had a passion for music, traveling and cooking, and he was especially known for his delicious peach cobbler. He deeply loved his family and was always present for those who needed him. Whether it was lending a helping hand, providing support, or simply being there in times of need, his presence was a constant source of comfort and strength to those he cared about. However, Joe’s greatest joy in life was being a father, a role that truly transformed his life. From his union with Shana Williams, he was blessed with two children: Joya Gorden and Jalen Williams who were his pride and joy. JoeJoe was preceded in death by his beloved mother Patricia Tumpkin and his grandparents Lee Ethel and Willie Gorden (Margaret) and Catherine and Percy Tumpkin. He is survived by his father, Joel Gorden (Deborah), along with his daughter Joya Gorden, son Jalen Williams and former wife Shana Williams. He is also survived by his siblings: Yolanda Gorden, Brian O'Larry (Diretta), Tammi Hamilton, Carlanda Gorden, Connie Johnson (Lockitt), Tracy Burroughs (Deongelo), Norman Tumpkin, Jazma Patrick, Khaleel Grandberry, Justin Gordon and stepbrother Lakell Patrick. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces and friends who will deeply miss him.
