Mrs. Jessie Mae Davis

In Loving Memory Of Jessie Mae Davis was born in Wayne, Michigan to proud parents London and Lillie P Townsend. She transitioned to the next phase of her journey on the night of September 15, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and triumph. Jessie was a graduate of Wayne High School where she met and fell in love with her husband of 56 years. Jessie married her childhood sweetheart Herman Davis Jr. on April 14, 1956 in Wayne, Michigan. Herman Davis Jr. preceded her in passing (2012). Their marriage was a union that set the standard of what a good marriage should look like for friends and family. Their love allowed for four children: Herman III (Tiuana), Cynthia (Sylvester-deceased), Andre’ (Regina), and Anthony Sr. (Alicia). Jessie and Herman’s union has allowed for an array of grandchildren to carry her legacy: Anthony Jr. and Aaron (Anthony Sr.), Dominique and Toria (Herman III), Andre Jr., Alona, and Andrenae (Andre Sr.), and Leonard, Jessica, and Justin (Cynthia). Jessie had 6 sisters: Mildred Woods (Gypsey), Barbara Reed (Bobbie, deceased), Gloria Davis (Deceased), Sylvia Tipton (Deceased), Ivoria Townsend, Marilyn Townsend, and Linda Green. She also had five brothers: Johnny Townsend, Girard Townsend, Vernard Townsend (Deceased), Carl Townsend (Deceased), Marlon Townsend, and Calvin Townsend. Her large family allowed for an array of nieces and nephews, as well. Jessie’s hobbies included curating her collections, cooking, and talking with her family. She was talented in finding treasure in any business she set foot in. The treasures she sought were oftentimes meant to enrich the lives of her family. She was proud of her collections and used them to create beautiful displays that sparked conversation and curiosity. Jessie would often be found outside barbecuing or inside baking cakes, pies, and delicious dinners for her family. She took pride in her cooking for good reason. Jessie’s love meant that if you came to her hungry, she would feed you. Jessie provided strength to others when she didn’t have strength to give herself. She would concern herself with the trivialities of others while she struggled herself. Her love knew no bounds. She was; a provider, a caretaker, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and confidant, a friend, a peacekeeper, and at times even a hell raiser. The foundation she and Herman laid created life, love, hope, ambition, and joy. Her legacy and spirit reside in all those she touched. Jessie should and will be celebrated from now on.
