Mr. James Arnold Brown Jr.

In Loving Memory Of James Arnold Brown Jr., a beloved son, husband, and father, passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 73. James was born on January 29,1950, in Detroit (Delray), Michigan, to James Arnold Brown Sr. and Margret Elizabeth Ashford. He was the second of five children. He attended St. Paul AME Church where he accepted Christ at an early age. As a youth he was very active in church activities. In his youth he worked for Great Scott and Ford Motor Company. James grew up in Detroit and graduated Southwestern High School, where he was active in ROTC and Community Outreach Services. James later attended Wayne Community College and earned a degree in the field of Law Enforcement. James served as a correction officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections for 32 years, working at the Jackson prison and retiring form Huron Valley Men's Facilities. James had four children from his first union; three sons Amondise Akili, James Arnold III and Lamont Jerome who preceded him death, and one surviving daughter France Sophina Brown. On December 26,1979, James married his life partner of 45 years and wife Bonita Jenkins who preceded him in death, and from this marriage her children and James's children became a family. James was known for his sense of humor and his love of Motown music. James was also a talented dancer, him and Bonita were known to "clear the floor" with their ballroom dancing. James took pride in his landscaping with his rare collections of statues. James enjoyed playing chess and bid whist with family and friends. James loved doing detective work and researching family history. James was known for his quick wit and his ability to make people laugh. And when he spoke, people listened. Here are some of his most famous sayings: "If it's not on paper, it doesn't exist." "Did you read the policy?" "Be a leader, not a follower." "You got to work." James was a dapper dresser. He believed that it was important to look your best, even when you're just running errands. And he would say "Make sure you look good." James was a loving husband and father. He was always willing to admit when he was wrong, especially to his wife, Bonita. He was known for saying "Yeah, you right, Bonita." James's sayings were simple, but they were also wise. He was a man who lived his life by his own rules, and he never backed down from a challenge. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of life, and his wise words. James was also preceded in death by, his parents James and Margaret Brown, his brothers: Raymond Brown and Phillip Brown
